Ohio GOP 'tired out'
Scandals, corruption have the party faithful reeling
BY DAN HORN | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Even before this month, things were going pretty lousy for Ohio Republicans: An unpopular president. Corruption in Columbus. Polls showing they could lose every statewide office.

Then things got even worse.

A Republican sex scandal exploded, this one involving teenaged boys. The president was quoted in Bob Woodward's new book as calling GOP gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell "a nut." And a new poll showed voters trusted Democrats more than Republicans, not just on the usual stuff - education and the environment - but even taxes.

A month before Election Day, Republicans in Southwest Ohio are worried. Discouraged. Turned off.

And that's bad news for Republicans everywhere because Southwest Ohio is heavily dominated by Republican voters....

4. In a real democracy
that wouldn't be allowed, but then again, Ohio hasn't had a real democratic government in the last dozen years or so. The Constitution stops at the state line.
