Woodward says Cheney cursed, hung up on him over "State of Denial"
On "Meet the Press" this morning, Bob Woodward recounted a phone call from Dick "Go fuck yourself" Cheney in which the Vice President called Woodward's reporting "bullshit" and hung up on him.

Can anyone still deny that this White House is hostile to the press (except for the FoxNews lapdogs) and to the free flow of inforamtion necessary to a democracy?

DUHbya called an NYT reporter "a major league asshole" on mic; what more has he said off mic?

Cheney is clearly on the defensive, as are DUHbya and the majority of the Republicans in Congress. What a circus. And what a well-deserved comeuppance.

And this is just the prelude to two full years of investigations, hearings, and God willing, TRIALS.

1.  He also made a great point that the Cheney hang-up was a
metaphor for the regime. When opposing views are presented to them their first, last and every reaction is to shut off communication with the offending party.

2. Woodard had a good point too: it was a microcosm of the admin.
They do not tolerate a different point of view. If there is a difference of opinion, the administration calls you dirty names and refuses to talk to you whether it be Woodward, or a military general in the field, or the president of another nation, or a member of congress.

3. I just pray that a lot of eyes open up and see what is really going on
with this administration!!
"Don't ask don't tell" is their motto, (and I'm not just talking sexual orientation)

4. I said after Woodward's 60 Minutes segment
that he sounded very much like a favorite reporter who started to be faced with a growing brick wall the more embarrassing questions he asked.

That's why the tone of this book changed so drastically from his first two. He asked too many questions and they started to treat him like a pariah. He didn't like that at all.

7. Not that I think that makes Woodward a saint.
But Bush played Woodward's game twice and got major benefits from it. They all deserve each other, really.

At least Woodward's outrage means he's bothering to report the truth this time.

9. Woodward's been getting a lot of flak from some on the left for the first
two books. But I have faith in his integrity and have to assume he was sincere in his treatment of the WH in the first two books.

But he's anything but naive--he did enough schmoozing to get and keep access, and now that he's uncovered a bunch of lies and distortions, he's laying the hammer down on another corrupt, arrogant, imperious president.

Woodward is back, just in time.

18. I wish I could believe what you write............
But I think Woodward is just another two-faced bastard trying to make a quick buck & to revive to his fading career.

I did not read his first two books. I did see his fawning interviews & read excerpts from time to time. Reading them was more than my stomach could handle.

6. Well, people completely ignored this administration mowing down the press
in Iraq so I doubt they will acknowledge a few "fuck you"s here and there. Highest "oopsie" death rate of journalists ever in a war.

10. No more interviews for the next book?
I guess Woodward is now persona non grata to this maladministration and will not be getting official information for another book.

12. He's a smart man. Maybe he sees a change coming in '08 and
writing this book would help him to have access to the next administration - that's made up of democrats.

15. Curse? Hang up? Cheney? Woodward is really ...
... stretching his credibility here. If we were to believe Woodward, we would have to believe that Cheney is a foul-mouthed, arrogant, power-mad sack of crap. Now, does that sound like Cheney?

We all know that Mr. Cheney loves Jesus with all his heart. In fact he will go to church today as he does every Sabbath and God will forgive him of everything he does.

:sarcasm: mode now off
