October 11, 2006, 26 days out ..... how ya feelin'?
We're 26 days out from the midterms.

Scandals of national proportions (Foley, ignoring security re: North Korea, Woodward's book, etc.) and local dimensions (Corker in TN, Allen's stock options, Ohio's Ney trial starting, etc.) are breaking out all over. Polls and pundits are all blue. Many are saying with little doubt that both houses of the congress will go Dem this go-round. Our governors will seriously outnumber theirs. Down ballot's looking good, too. Some of their weirdest and flakiest are doing a death gurgle already, like Sanatorium.

BBV is still the most common form of voting and counting, but the media seems to be well aware of it and guys like Lou Dobbs have been hammering it home that we need to be damn careful (in other words, the floodlights appear to be on in Dieboldville).

So ...... 26 days out ....... how ya feelin'?

I'm feelin' pretty good. Not overconfident. Not ready to stop hittin' it hard. But, overall ......... pretty good.

How 'bout you?

3. I will fight as hard as I can until Nov. 8....
the outcome of those elections will have a lot to do with what I do or don't do after that.

4. Uneasy.
I think I will remain uneasy until we get where we want to be. I've been somber since the 2004 election. Don't get me wrong, I have been working for Dems' campaigns at the local level hard since the election. The closest thing I can compare the feeling to is that of being a Red Sox fan (which I am).

6. Cautiously optimistic
I'm well aware of BBV but maybe just maybe they won't be able to steal it? I was hopeful and then burned badly in 2004 so I am afraid to truly hope. Yet, you can't ask for much more of an advantage. All we need is a dead prostitute. If there was a paper trail I'd be betting landslide.

We need an avatar for crossed fingers.
