Things to keep in mind for CT-Sen
1. Lamont is now within 8 points according to a Hartford Courant poll.
2. There are three debates starting Monday, where Alan Schlesigner (R) will be present.
3. Any exposure Schlesinger gets will hurt Lieberman nearly exclusively (So far he's had next to NONE).
4. Lieberman is AT HIGHEST fifth on the ballot (some towns have townwide parties which run candidates - prior established parties have higher position). It will be hard for senile, lazy, or ignorant voters to find him.
5. Alan Schlesinger is FIRST on the ballot, right to the right of popular Gov. Jodi Rell. Many people will vote for Rell, then vote Repub right accross the line, even if they told a pollster they like Joe.
6. Democrats are more motivated to vote than Republicans, and as always, independents.
7. Joe will have to run a ground game without a party apparatus behind him. I doubt the Republicans will explicitly run GOTV for him.
8. Republicans know that Lieberman is not quite as good as a real republican, even if he is better than lamont for them. They may not be thrilled about actually pulling the lever for him.

I believe this race is closer than it seems. We need to beat Joe in the debates, held at a crucial time, when attention will be high, and on the ground on election weekend. We can do it!

3. You "non-natives" have to understand.....
Many Ct. voters think that it was ONLY because of Joes' pull in DC that the SUB BASE and Electric Boat were saved. These businesses, if gone, would have put the whole N.Eastern section of the State on unemployment. They forget that's it's not just Joe!! It's Dodd, and Blumenthal, and all the other big Dems in the State! We can do it without you JOE!!

5. Very good point.

Joe even has that :puke: inducing ad, saying that Ned would never be able to save the Base.

7. Good points on Schlesinger but the ballot position is overrated
There was a major study indicating ballot position is important in a primary but not in the general election.

We need to beat Lieberman. If you start relying on bail-outs like ballot position or a ground game it will be equivalent to the hidden cell phone users in 2004.
