Chris Shays Defends Hastert, Cites Chappaquiddick!
Shays on Foley handling: At least no one died
POSTED: 4:16 p.m. EDT, October 11, 2006

HARTFORD, Connecticut (AP) -- Republican Rep. Christopher Shays defended the House speaker's handling of a congressional page scandal, saying no one died like during the 1969 Chappaquiddick incident involving Democratic Sen. Ted Kennedy.

"I know the speaker didn't go over a bridge and leave a young person in the water, and then have a press conference the next day," the embattled Connecticut congressman told The Hartford Courant in remarks published Wednesday.

"Dennis Hastert didn't kill anybody," he added.

It's really important to vote against EVERY Republican this time.

1. Well, that certainly ends my appreciation of Shays as a
moderate, thoughtful human being.

2. So, Rep. Shays, how much wiggle-room is there before you kill somebody?
Let's just start with torture, shall we? And how much predatory sexual behavior is okay if someone doesn't actually die? Is **rape** okay if the victim doesn't die?????

Chappaquiddick was in 1969. Nineteen-hundred and effin' sixty-nine -- that's 37 years ago, you right-wing POS. Learn to LIVE WITH IT, as your ilk is so fond of saying. :grr:

3. OK, Randi.
NOW can we quit defending this asshole as a moderate? Chappaquiddick was terrible. Now anytime ANY Republican gets in trouble, they use it to deflect blame. Well is wasn't as bad as KENNEDY.

How many crooked, pedophilic and/or sanctimoniously Christian Republicans can be equivalent to the alcoholic, black sheep of the Kennedy family? Kennedy fucked up in 1969.

Republicans are fucking up in the here and now, and won't take responsibility for it. Which is worse?
