Lieberman gets Dicked (Cheney sings his praises as a "perfect example")
With less than a month to go before the elections, Vice President Dick Cheney offered up strong words of praise for Joe Lieberman, while taking shots at the "Dean Democrats" who have "purged" the Connecticut senator from the Democratic Party.

"The case of Joe Lieberman is a perfect illustration of the basic philosophical difference between the two parties in the year 2006," Cheney said at a Topeka, Kansas fundraiser for Rep. Jim Ryan on Thursday afternoon. "And it's a reminder that the elections on November 7th will have enormous consequences for this nation, one way or the other."

Lieberman is running for reelection as an Independent, after his upset in the Democratic primary to challenger Ned Lamont, primarily due to his continued support of the war in Iraq and his perceived coziness to the Bush Administration.

After slamming DNC Chairman Howard Dean for declaring that "the capture of Saddam Hussein has not made America safer" nearly three years ago, Cheney said that "perhaps it should come as no surprise that such a party would turn its back on a man like Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut."

1. A Cheney endorsement
is no longer beneficial. This can only help Lamont.

3. Argh, I hate Cheney
"We have a great President living in the White House, and he deserves a Congress that works with him and not against him."

Actually, the great puppet president and his string-puller Cheney deserve to be impeached, and the world never asked for them and doesn't deserve them or the imperialistic nightmare they have unleashed.

And to make a more general point, what is this idea that any leader 'deserves' not to have an opposition? Is that the attitude of a supporter of democracy???

5. I sincerely hope one of "their own" loses a primary in '08...
and decides to run as an Independent, with support from the Democrats.
Then we could rub their noses in it as they squealed foul.

That would bring me much satisfaction

6. How could anyone, Dem or Republican soil themselves by voting for
Lieberman, the Traitor. Which country does he work for again?

8. "Dean Democrats purged" poor Joey
Hey you evil, unnatural man, it was the VOTERS who selected the man they want to represent the Democratic Party in the CT Senate race. Joe took it upon himself to ignore the VOTERS. Nobody "purged" him from the party...he left it.

Of course, Cheney hates the idea of democratic process, so of course he too ignores the will of the voters.

9. Lamont simply HAS to pull this together.
Lieberman is far more destructive to our party than ANY Repug is. We need to get him the fuck out of office. What's it going to take for about 1/3 of CT's Democrats to wake up?
