DNC renegotiates with the DSCC...to give more for candidates and GOTV.
Howard Dean and the DNC had already negotiated some amounts with the congressional campaigns last week. I see today there is still more going on. From earlier:

DNC settles up with the DCCC and the DSCC.

"DNC Chairman Howard Dean has agreed to put what one Democratic aide said was roughly $5 million into Senate races. Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.), the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee chairman, welcomed the agreement, saying: "The DNC is helping us at a time we need it very much, and we appreciate Chairman Dean's efforts."

"The DNC also intends to increase its contribution to the most competitive fall House campaigns by $2 million -- to a total of $4.4 million. "In this important election, as with every election, we can't take any vote for granted," said DNC spokeswoman Karen Finney."

Here is the article today about the larger amount to the DSCC and continuing negotiations with the DCCC.

Dean to dole out $8M to Senate election effort

"-- After weeks of backroom wrangling, Sen. Charles Schumer has convinced Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean to rush about $8 million to Democratic Senate campaigns, Newsday has learned.

Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.), head of the Democrats' effort to take back the House, has clashed with Dean publicly and is still trying to wrench free more money from Dean.

"We've come to a very felicitous, happy agreement with the DNC," said Schumer, chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Under the deal finalized last week, the DNC will kick in $5 million to hotly contested Senate races in New Jersey, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Missouri. Another $2 million to $3 million will go to get-out-the-vote operations in black and Hispanic neighborhoods, said Dean spokeswoman Karen Finney."

The new money is on top of about $12 million Dean previously pledged for election-related activities, Finney said. By Election Day, the DNC will have spent between $20 and $25 million in races, she added."

1. The GOTV cash squares with the long term agenda, but
as a bond holder I'm NOT thrilled to be supporting PA's anti-choicer OR OH's pro-torture voter. sigh. The stakes are high and I hope they beat the repubs, but still.... I'm glad Dean held out this long and I hope he gets the credit he deserves for encouraging candidates in some of the long shot races.

3. I agree. He seems to get input in where the money goes...
Which is a good thing.

2. This Is Good News, Ma'am
Ammunition must be used in a timely fashion, particularly when it is not too plentiful....

"War requires funds, you know."

5. Anyone know how much Hillary and Kerry are sitting on?
for their respective 2008 runs? Would be nice to have some of that flowing to key races.

6. Got My Call Two Days Ago... I Caved And Gave Them Money!
They wanted minimum of $74 but since I had given to Jennings, Webb and Lamont I told them they would have to settle for less. They only got $31 and I had sworn I wouldn't do it this time around.

I'm losing it!

7. bravo!
I takes cash to win elections. It takes election wins to gain control of the House and Senate. The majority party sets the agenda and is more influential, making Dean's 50 State Strategy that much easier to accomplish.

8. David at Swing State give kudos to the DLCC for state raises.
http://www.swingstateproject.com/2006/10/dems_hoping_to.php

"I would like to take this opportunity to praise the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (aka the DLCC) for their tireless work on these races. State lege races are usually unglamorous affairs, and the rewards for victory seldom receive the attention that national success does. Yet the DLCC plugs away, day after day, in the shadows of the DNC, DSCC and DCCC. They deserve a major pat on the back for all their successes in recent years.

And I'd also like to point out that a little help can go a long, long way in state legislative races. They are almost always low dollar races, so even small donations can make a big difference. ActBlue has activated state-level fundraising capabilities in twenty states now (many with the help of the DLCC), so it's even easier to donate to local candidates now. In fact, the DLCC even has its own ActBlue page with a list of targeted races. But if you aren't sure where you want to get involved, you can check out the DLCC's action list or donate directly to the DLCC."

Here is their website:

Don't confuse this withe DLC...not the same group.
