2. That must be one wildly conservative district for her to have 45%.

15. The *western* part of her district runs blood red
Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 03:19 PM by theHandpuppet
Hamilton County (Cincy) and its satellite counties of Warren and Clermont counties, the latter going most heavily for Schmidt and the site of well-publicized election day shenanigans in 2004 (they claimed the voting problems were due to humidity!) comprise the seat of Repig power in District 2. The four poorer, rural Appalchian counties of Brown, Pike, Adams and Scioto went for Hackett in 2004; Scioto County went for Hackett by some 65-35% !

Those of us who are native to the Appalachian region of District 2 HATE being lumped in with the neofascist regime to our west but because of the way this district is carved up, whatever the voters in Greater Cincinnati decide the rest of us have to live with. In essence, the Dem voters in the largely poverty-stricken rural areas of D2 are simply disenfranchised because their vote is always nullified by the Cincy bully machine. Until there is redistricting in Ohio and the Appalachian folks are given a voice, this will not change.

For a map of Ohio's District 2, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_of_Representatives,_Ohio_District_2

Make no mistake; D2 is schizophrenic in its politics; whilst the Cincy Enquirer reported just two days ago that their lunatic native son Ken Blackwell is leading the polls in SW Ohio, Strickland will POUND Blackwell in SE Ohio and the eastern counties of D2.

Redistricting MUST become a priority for the next Democratic governor of Ohio. We Appalachians want our voices to be heard and our votes to count!

8. I've heard that OH-02 is one of the most conservative
disctricts in the country. Paul Hackett may have made a big mistake by not running against her this time. He would be winning walking away in this atmosphere.

16. Please refer to my post #15
D2 bleeds red because of the neofascist majority in Hamilton County (Cincinnati) and its satellite counties of Clermont and Warren. Hackett carried the four counties in eastern D2 but we hillbillies always get outvoted by the Nazis to our west.

20. "May have"? He did make a mistake. He would be starting a successful
career in politics as a newly elected Democratic Representative in January had he not allowed his pride to overwhelm his humility.

Some details about the polling technique...

OH-2, Dr. Vic Wulsin by THREE! Woo-hoo!
:bounce:
UP by 48-45 in the most recent Majority Watch automated phone poll.  Oct 8-10, +/-1000 respondents, MOE ~3%.

FYI, Majority Watch is a joint venture of RT-Strategies, out of DC, and Constituent Dynamics, an automated technology firm. They use recorded-voice questions, answered by touchtone strokes.  Sample phone numbers are very carefully selected from registered, likely voters.  Methodology is new and kinda experimental, but shows promise for accuracy.  Hope it's TRUE!

This is IMHO a substantial showing for Dr. Vic. She's a great candidate, in complete, total contrast to the incumbent witch. Let's hope the next poll shows a gain on this result. Will be seeing the good doc herself tonight, should be a happy event. Murtha is here tomorrow for a mid-day rally and a later fund-raiser. Chris Dodd was here a few weeks ago for Vic; he's an inspiring speaker!

Next week, Sherrod Brown, George Mitchell and Chuck Schumer are here for a rally for a great candidate for a Hamilton County Commissioner seat, David Pepper. October 24, the Big Dawg himself is here in support of John Cranley (OH-1) who's gonna unseat "CombOver Steve" Chabot. It's pretty exciting to get national figures here! Vigilance!

13. Dr. Wulsin is a terrific candidate, and I hope the numbers in this
poll bear out on election day.

What a photo of Mean Jean. It captures her better than any photo I've seen of her to date. Just perfect.

19. I blame Hackett for this. Apparently voting Democratic is habit forming
He's opened up the eyes of that district. The people there have had enough of people who clutch the flag but call our decorated veterans cowards.

21. Thank you!
If nothing else Paul Hackett put the fear o'God into the district's GOP and really got voters thinking that they really DO have a choice! The current race wouldn't even been close if Hackett hadn't blazed the campaign trail in 2004. He came within a hair of winning a district that was supposed to be a Republican lock. Now the district has gone from a "no way in hell" for Dems to a possible addition to our WIN column!

Thanks, Paul Hackett. The voters in Scioto County, at least, appreciate what you did!
