Has anyone seen Michael Steele ads In Maryland?
He says that party politics is so old hat, vote for him and he'll represent both democrats
and republicans, excuse me but wasn't he a keynote speaker at the RNC convention in NYC
in 2004. Hasn't he been Lt. Governor under Bob Ehrlich? Isn't his campaign being funded
and the Tv ads by the RNC. Where does this I am an independent posturing come from?
What do you think on this one?

:-)

it scares me that they are no longer running on their record but their ability to
make an effective sound byte.

I want real politicians that try to represent their districts and not a bunch of thugs

3. he can run, but he can't hide
He has these very slick, untraditional ads that never mention that he's a republican and largely avoid the issues. But Cardin has hit back with some clever ads of his own as well as some hard hitting ads that point out Steele's support for chimpy and the war, even using Steele's appearance at the repub convention.

Its not a mortal lock, but I think we're going to come out of this one okay.

Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 02:21 PM by MissWaverly
but he does not come across as the cool dude type; it's like car saleman, why should you
fall for their spin, you are going to have that car a long time, a bad deal is still
a bad deal. Just like a 48 month loan on a car.

Cardin plays Steele's speech praising Bush. It's a classic!

22. yes, considering the fact that Bush had made some goof-ups
by then, he was portrayed as the ultimate leader, what about no WMDs in Iraq, I still wonder
how they overlooked that or the bit about not finding Osama.

I can barely stand the guy, but I sure like his commercials. I can only imagine the impact they're having on people who don't know much about him.

13. He holds a cute little dog and comes across as a good-natured guy.
That's the best he can do, because GOP policies aren't very popular in MD, a deep-blue state. He's only 8 points behind, so his act is working.

The mother fucker sure loves puppies.

I expect investigation into lewd misconduct with a canine to take place if he is elected...to keep in step with and not be out done by the other pubs.

African Americans in the area can associate with. He never has an (R) after his name either.

they could call it Michael Steele's split personalty, show his current ad/with his
RNC speech on the other side.

or loaning money to people with no credit, he comes off too "Mr. Slick", and I think he's trying to be "Mr. Average", it goes to show that it's just not a natural thing for a pukey.

23. Steele
is a black Republican politician who like puppies! Yippee, who wouldn't vote for a guy like that?

This is the level of political dicourse in Maryland. The other strategy is attack the opponents record and quote some "experts" for back up. Defend your record by quoting some "experts" for back up. Back and forth, back and forth.

By the time Nov.4 rolls around, if you've made it to the polls and haven't had to leave due to back ups at the polls too long to endure and you are recognized as a duly registered voter at the correct duly authorized polling place and you find yourself standing in front of the new, pretty, computerized voting machine, point to the caqndidate of your choice, hope it gets counted correctly and leave. Go home and watch the exciting" election returns coverage" until you can't stay up any longer and find out the results in the AM. Pat yourself on the back if your candidate wins. Hope for the best.

27. How are you feeling about the race for Governor?
I had this discussion with someone on the forum earlier. Im feeling good based on polling and trends, but something tells me Ehrlich and Bo Harmon are up to something sleazy. The whisper smear campaigns are starting up again and the Sun reported Ehrlich has begun push polling.

What County are you in and how does it look for O'Malley?

28. Baltimore City/O'Malley will win, you heard it here first
I was talking with my friends who are African Americans about their views, all along on the
political blogs there have been innuendos that race is a factor, a negative element for
the dems; well they said very similar things to what I have said.

They don't like Bob Ehrlich because he:
represents big corporations and not the little guy.
he help bring about the deregulation of utilities which paved the way for the attempt
at a 76% rate hike by BGE.
he raised the sewer bill rates with his "Flush Tax"/you have heard me talk about how my
sewer bill went from $19.00 to $48.00 dollars; the burden is on the poor and middle class
to clean up the bay
he doubled the costs for auto tags $75.00 registration fee to $125.00

26. You didnt know? Steele talks straight about both parties,
refuses special interest money, and is not in the presidents hip pocket.

TRUTH - Recruited by Bush, Cheney, Rove. Taken 6 million in special interest money. Bush raised 500,000 for him in one night, but Steele wont even stop by to see his 'homeboy' when they are within blocks of each other. If my homeboy was just around the block, I would take the time to visit him.

political favors, ie donations, are also returned with interest, that's why congress is in
the shape it is in right now. Government of the Dollar, for the Dollar and by the Dollar.
