4. "Pardon our hubris"
who owns barron's, Bush?

JUBILANT DEMOCRATS SHOULD RECONSIDER their order for confetti and noisemakers
The Democrats, as widely reported, are expecting GOP-weary voters to flock to the polls in two weeks and hand them control of the House for the first time in 12 years -- and perhaps the Senate, as well. Even some Republicans privately confess that they are anticipating the election-day equivalent of Little Big Horn. Pardon our hubris, but we just don't see it.

Our analysis -- based on a race-by-race examination of campaign-finance data -- suggests that the GOP will hang on to both chambers, at least nominally. We expect ...

10. In a way, yes.
They have to start creating the fiction that the election is closer than everyone thinks in order to be able to steal it.

19. Diebold scares the shit out of me
If we lose, it will be due to Diebold. I can't believe we haven't done anything about them yet

9. Typical Drudge: He thinks that $$ = votes
Edited on Sat Oct-21-06 08:21 PM by drb
But a single ultra-uber-wealthy person can give a zillion dollars (through the back door*), but he only gets to vote once. (excluding, of course, the Diebold effect).

*No reference to Mark Foley is implied or intended ;)

12. How can an article published in Barrons be a "developing" story?
Maybe they're writing it a few paragraphs at a time.

That site is a triumph in pure ugly. The layout, not merely the themes. I get tricked into clicking there maybe twice a year. Can't he afford a redesign, or find some basic taste?

13. Since some of us won't click on Drudge - why not use four
paragraphs to quote the essense of what he's saying.

The minimum of us should make him rich and look good with his click-through count.

20. I live in Ct. By anything that is right we should have
three seats that we should take from the Republicans. they are pouring in millions in Tv ads. I don't know what will happen, but if we don't take any republican seats in Connecticut (and you will know by 11PM EST) we are at risk.

22. It's not a rumor
Dude that guy is as gay as I am. He's just been layin low. I think there'll be a lot of gay Rethugs coming out if power shifts to the Dems. The Rethugs are starting to figure out that the theocrats are losing the culture war and if they can't hold power with their current base they'll start to reinvent themselves. Their gays are going to be a big part of that new smiley face they are going to start showing the world.

21. reading Drudge, FR, etc. pre-election is not good for your mental health
i personally recommend abstaining from right-wing hyenas, and taking only limited doses of mainstream/corporate media, between Labor Day and Election Day.

aside from finding links to online polls being "freeped", i don't see how it really helps our side to inflict that cr@p on ourselves. it's not like we don't know their talking points, which are echoed far and wide wherever there's electricity.

IMO this time of year is for OUR message, not theirs. garbage in, garbage out, so my advice is to keep the garbage to a minimum at this time of year. then when we take Congress back, we can visit freeperland and enjoy watching them try to spin their way out of yet another failure.

for now, keep sane, healthy, and positive. just my 2 cents.
