a report from the ground in RED rural NM
the absentee ballots starting going out 10/12 and so far the Dems are returning them on a 3 to 1 ratio over the Repukes

this is a VERY red area of our state so the Dems GOTV is working here

1. That's great news!
I would rejoice if it weren't for the fraud that went on in New Mexico in 2004. I wonder if it's going to be the same story again?

2. after the debacle, Richardson mandated all paper ballots through
out the state and every county has brand new scanners (not Diebold) so hopefully it will be lots better this year

8. agreed Dear MsPeggy
or I truly fear for our country and freedom. I am glad today I am over 50 and childless. This country will need decades to recover (if it ever does) but there is no hope at all if we don't start the turn here and now!

10. He's way ahead in the polls, unfortunately, although I've seen more
pro-Kissling, anti-Pearce letters to the editor in the Repug daily than pro-Pearce.

The Richardson team did quite a bit of door-to-door and sent in my absentee ballot request. They sent a professional postcard informing me to watch for it in the mail (I got it the same day). Some local candidates included a reference to my absentee ballot. The Richardson machine can work when it wants to. I wish it was working hard for Kissling, because the national Dems have put no money into the race.

12. My concern....
Edited on Wed Oct-25-06 11:08 AM by windbreeze
is the numbers who are returning ballots early...is this a GOOD thing??? Does it indicate, what the losing party must do, in order to garner a win, early enough that whatever they must do to win, could be accomplished?? I never thought about that until today...we picked up our absentee ballots from the PO last night...our whole state votes absentee...and I am not sure I like it...no...that's a lie...I don't like voting this way, and I don't trust it...I guess the Democrats decided it is the lesser of two evils...electronic, no paper trail machines, or absentee ballots ALL the time....but then I lose my sense of pride at having actually gone to the polls and voted too...damn it...

for how many ballots are returned and the party designation? I'd love to see what's going on in other states too. Thanks.
