So ... new meme: Pelosi will be the most liberal Speaker is history
Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 08:48 PM by Husb2Sparkly
Well .... lemme tell this to anyone who cares ....... I like Rep. Pelosi well enough. In fact, I like her maybe more than many here on DU.

But she's just not liberal enough for me.

Let me explain that statement. It is NOTHING against Ms. Pelosi. It is EVERYTHING against the mysogenistic, homophobic fear mongerers who run the 'San Francisco liberal" flag up their flagpole.

Anyone who thinks Nancy Pelosi is too liberal (and therefor too scary) to be speaker can just bite my dick.

This whole meme is simply Republic Party code for anti gay and anti woman and anti liberal bullshit.

Fuck whoever came up with it. My guess is it is the same assholes who came up with that racist ad against Harold Ford ..... the one that calls to mind the myth of the over endowed black man hunting white poontang.

I am simply disgusted by this. Not surprized one damned bit. But definitely disgusted.

Is it too soon for someone to out Ken Mehlman?

1. They can bite my dick also, and I don't even have one!
Scarborough sways in the wind. Did someone tell him it was 'attack Dems' night? I wish he'd just pick a stand and party and stick with it. He's to chickenshit to do so, and it makes him seem like a...well, a dick!

Hi, H2S! HAven't seen you around! :hi:

4. Well, to hell with the little scaredy cat Republicans. I think
a liberal House Speaker sounds mighty, mighty good after Hastert.

If on November 8th we all wake up to presumptive Speaker Nancy Pelosi, I say that's sensational news, not to mention history-making news.

That job has too long been an all-boys club.

Time for some women to be in charge.

5. Husb2Sparkly....you nailed it again....but I also think there is
more psychology they are trying to use here....because Nancy Pelosi is more hard core then they are advertising....they are truely afraid of what she will do if she gets the position...and that is to undo all of their bullshit laws and legislation they have passed....she has come out with her 100 hour plan...

They do hate women..especially women in power....

Ken Mehlman is probably shaking in his shoes right now...cause he is going to get outed....come on.....he is the worst hypocrite of all..

6. Hint: That is why they are airing the Barack Obama thing, too
Disgusting, ain't it?

It hit me out of the blue today. I never figured they would try to appeal to the racists in America, but yes, they have stooped this low.

I thought we were beyond this in 2006, where people would be judged on their merits, but leave it to Rove and his ilk to pander to the uniformed/uneducated (nicer words than I thought of using).

8. It is the huge airtime that is getting.
The message is: if you vote Democrat, you will get yada yada yada.

It is just my opinion, and what I truly hate is that we have race/gender/sexual orientation as as issue AT ALL.

9. Gotcha. It's another distraction, but it is news. I found it
interesting that after Obama chatted with Russert, someone suggested he might not run because of the fear factor for him and his family. That's really sad, but something they have to consider, I guess.

21. Two weeks before the '06 election the media is talking about ''08
with the races heating up they clearly want a subject change.
They seem to want to pit Clinton vs. Obama because they know that either opponent will give them the best chance for rethugs to hold the WH.

12. Don't let it get to ya, clown dude.
I take it a different way. Their desperate whining is music to my ears: "Booo hooo, what will we ever do without our favorite Bush league lapdog in control of the House? She won't let us pass any more Paris Hilton tax cuts! She won't let us gut Social Security! She'll break up our K Street party! She'll conduct investigations! How dare she question the president! Booo hooo!"

I actually had fun on Monday, listening to Osama bin Reilly's radio show for the first time. He and what's left of his callers are in denial bigtime. They were talking about the 'poll' that Barron's did recently, in which they only examined campaign finance data to conclude that the candidates who had the most money would win. Of course, Republics came out ahead in that 'poll'. O'Liely spent the time trying to convince himself this was a real poll, and that Democrats weren't going to take control of the House after all.

As soon as we take the House next month I'm going to say "Get over it" to Republics every time one of them whines. Looks like I'll get lots of opportunities.

15. I agree
I like Pelosi alright and she has been doing the best she can as leader in the House for the democrats. I think she is pretty much a moderate democrat and is hardly liberal. They like to brand anyone with a (d) after their name a liberal when that just isn't true. There are all sorts of democrats. I've had many people call others liberal because they are in opposition to Bush. Never mind if they are one of them (like Lincoln Chafee) or a conservative or moderate democrat they just get called a liberal. I think there are a lot of people out there who just don't know what it means to be a liberal and the word has for whatever purpose become so bad they use it like a cuss word and it's lost it's meaning.

17. This just proves how far to the Right this Party has moved...
Back in the day, Pelosi would have been seen as right of center in this Party. Today she is it's Liberal Scourge.

20. I wish, just once, someone would put some real leftists on tv
some communists or socialists so America could hear what the real radical left is all about. Liberal Democrats would look mainstream, which they really are.

24. That was my first thought when I read that "meme"....
Tip O'Neill was so much more "Liberal" than Nancy Pelosi could ever dream of being. The Republicans of today just don't have a long enough memory, are too young, or (this is most likely) are too busy trying to smear her to remember a speaker who was far to her Left, politically.
