Homophobia - GOP Political Strategy - Nice NYT Editorial
In so many words, the paper says bush and his gang of criminals don't give a fuck about gays only that they are useful to stir up the mindless, hatefilled base.

1. This seems the most telling...

All this is, as everyone knows, just a show for rousing the base. If the last month has taught us anything about the Republican Party, it is that homophobia is campaign strategy, not conviction. Congressmen who trust their careers to gay staffers vote for laws to enshrine second-class citizenship for gays in the Constitution. Gay appointees and their partners are treated as married people at official ceremonies and social gatherings. Then whenever an election rolls around, the whole team pretends it’s on a mission to save America from gay marriage.

***

What a bunch of hypocrites (as if that's news).

2. They are incredibly transparent
They care about no one but themselves. And the ignorant masses blindly march to the polls.

6. It seems to me, though,
that the "ignorant masses" are becoming smaller and smaller with each passing day. Perhaps they are now more like "ignorant groups" or "occasional gatherings of ignorant idiots" or something?

8. I look forward to the day
when that "group" is comprised of one very obese, pathetic excuse for a man in a NASCAR t-shirt covered with streaks of orange Dorito dust, a Bush-Cheney '04 hat on backwards and a soiled pair of cheap boxers sitting alone in a LaZyBoy in some single-wide out in the middle of nowhere screaming at his black-and-white rabbit-eared TV about those "damn Liberals who have taken over the whole world and made everyone really happy by stopping war and putting his Hero Bush in the Hague".

:-)

4. The so-called Party of the Big Tent is nothing more than
the Party of the Big Closet.

Every nasty Republican closet queen needs to be outed, the sooner the better.

It's the hypocrisy, stupid!

5. Some christian wackjob
They are all the same, I don't recall the specific one, said a few weeks ago that the GOP's tent was too big. How fucking compassionate.

And your point about outing. If it weren't for the hate of christians and republicans no one would have to be in any closet. Irony lost on those closeted.
