15. No equal time is given to Democrats for Bush's campaign speeches
Once Dems retake Congress, a priority ought to be to restore the Fairness Doctrine and to do something about media concentration.

6. well actually we have two "S" s that are in trouble
Sodrel(9th district) is behind. and Souder (3rd distric)
The Repubs just ran a poll for the 3rd district and all of a sudden started pouring money into Souders campaign for negative ads....I'm lovin this folks..
we are winning the 2nd 8th.9th,and possibly the 3rd..I also havent given up on the 6th district yet

7. In Sodrel's district
Didn't know he was behind in the polls as I never listen to the news. Haven't since the day he was elected, so that is good to hear. His and Anne Northrup's ads are extremely nasty this year.

9. Chocola (no relation to Count Chocola) is also trailing, and badly
It is possible that the Indiana House delegation will have a Democratic majority after the smoke clears.

One problem: Julia Carson is trailing in some polls against GOP challenger Eric Dickerson. I wonder how many of those polled realize that this Eric Dickerson, a car dealer, is NOT the former NFL running back.

11. that poll was Republican funded.*. I think if one looks at the latest FEC
filings from the 7th district Julia Carson was way ahead in money and will come out with a win..

*and only a handfull of voters were polled so not real accurate

12. Sodrel... interesting, I was driving through a rural part
of this district in Brown County earlier today, started counting the number of signs out for Sodrel vs out for Hill. Hill's signs slightly out numbered Soderel's. Don't know that it means much, but I found it slightly interesting.

8. Bush is in Indiana because the GOP is trailing in several House races
and the Republican incumbents are just freaked out about it.

10. Well they gave up on the 8th district and pulled all funding from the 2nd
Now I know Im sounding very optimistic but here's my take on Indiana
We win the 2nd,8th,9th, and 3rd..and if Barry Welsh can get funding from the DCCC in the 6th district, that district is winnable (against Mike Pence) too..
So far all the high dollar negative ads the Repukes have ran are not registering with voters......

13. We are getting wall-to-wall GOP negative ads on TV and my mailbox
gets GOP positive candidate ads every day. These ads cannot change the sour mood against the GOP that currently exist. When the clocks are moved back an hour, Hoosiers will be reminded that it was a Republican governor that messed with their historical sacrosanct rejection of daylight savings time.

14. funny - while the idea is to raise $ and 'whip up support among the base'...
bush and mitch are the primary reason the repubs are in peril. Seems like Bush's visit and Cheney's would be more likely to remind folks why they want to vote against Sodrel, and the other GOP congressfolks.

16. Here is something to think about though.....
I work with a guy from the 2nd district..He claimed to be an Independent.so my question was: So you are voting for Donnelly correct?
His answer no "I have to vote my religion because Donnelly voted for the bill that allows minors to get abortions without their parents permission.I said no I dont think so because Donnelly was/is not in Congress yet..Well he said but he supports it..I said well it looks like the republican propaganda worked with you..end of converstaion.

17. The logic of protecting the pregnant girl from the father that impregnated her
escaped your friend.

Can't reason with those that reject reason. Your friend's world view is not different from that of the Taleban.

19. I think I would push a point to plant a seed of thought.
It is a bit of a conundrum - if one is pushed to think about it - as to what is the bigger deal in the bible - there are a few passages in the bible that can be used to support issues such as anti-abortion and anti-gay rights issues - but there are exponentially more passages about the evil of greed and idolotry (think per the idolotry of money).

When one hits the "I can't vote against my religion" type sentiment - the place to try to steer the conversation is to the conundrum that this presents. Voting to make 35% + rates of interest for those with poor credit (as was codified in the new bankruptcy law) codifies usurary which is against the teachings in the bible - the law also puts the burden upon borrowers and places predatory lending practices above the law/reproach - which also is not in line with the teachings of the Bible.

So many churches have become so politicized at the pulpit - that many people buy into the thought process described by your friend. But the shift, in recent polls, of a stunning number of self-proclaimed fundamentalist/evangelicals away from republicans - suggest that the point I raise above, and similar points (other areas in which a politician may stray from "Christain teachings/values") is moving more and more folks away from lock-step republican voting.
