My Joey versus the War
by Matt Stoller, Sat Oct 28, 2006 at 12:25:48 PM EST

I wrote a piece immediately after the primary pointing out that Bloomberg Democrats were the biggest losers, that sleazy New York billionaires lost to a bunch of progressives. In the general election, it's the Bloomberg Democrat crowd that has gone strongly pro-Joe, and it's that crowd - which has been a cog in the Clinton machine - that in all likelihood has stopped the Democrats from fully embracing Ned Lamont. Joe is using Michael Bloomberg people to run his GOTV operation instead of hiring machine Democrats to hand out cash, as he did in the primary.

Personal note:
I posted a blog excerpt yesterday that was tough on netroots leaders who abandoned Lamont. MyDD put this up today and I thought it deserved attention.

2. Wow...more about Democrats for Bloomberg from last year. Powerful group.
I should say powerful group of Democrats. I found this from last September, and in the discussion is a LOT of links to who the Democrats are who backed Bloomberg and who stand with him.

Now all this has nothing to do with the fact that Bloomberg was once a Democrat. Not the issue.

The issue is the machinations going on everywhere in the party until I find myself banging my head against the wall.

3. KNR~
Whatever happens in the election..Lamont will go on being an interesting person to watch and lieman will continue with his sleeze and propping up the bushmonkey.

I hope the majority of Connecticut voters see that it's time for a sea change.

4. Everyone here at DU needs to do a search on "bloomberg democrats"
or "democrats for bloomberg" or just bloomberg, democrats.

You will read some amazing stuff about our party, and where it is going.

If you care about your party, learn what is going on.

5. In my thread about Lieberman
I linked to your post, because somehow it is all tied in together.

And we in the nutroots, uh, netroots, uh grassroots...whatever, are royally screwed.

9. Thanks, was just reading it.
Tim is very accurate and thorough. He also is sort of saying that we will hear more after the election about some prominent Dems who are not supporting Lamont.

Looks like our ideas were not too far off base.
