Poll question: Why is lieberman's illegal slush fund scandal being ignored?
As we know, lieberman's campaign won't - or can't - account for almost $400,000 in petty cash that was allegedly disbursed over a 12-day period. (Google lieberman + petty cash for details).

Additionally, his campaign is defying federal election law by refusing to open the books and account for the money. This is blatantly illegal.

Why is this being ignored by most DUers (and most of the media)?

2. My guess is the established Dems behind the scenes are working to protect
Lieberman at every turn, and even created fake internet distractions like HeyJohn and other anonymous actions to take the heat off Lieberman.

Something absolutely obscene is going on with the Lamont-Lieberman race. Establishment Dems are WORKING WITH BushInc to DEFEAT THE DEMOCRAT NOMINEE IN THE RACE.

11. I think we're being snowed by the corpmedia coronation of Lieberman
They are underreporting Lamont's strength on the ground while over-reporting Lieberman's poll numbers. They pull this tactic when they intentionally MISLEAD in an effort to effect the election day outcome. Seen it before.

Lieberman Lied to Dem Brass (That's News?)
by: BranfordBoy

Joe Lieberman will say anything to get elected, even if it means lying to fellow Democratic insiders.
When Lieberman called Milford DTC member Jim Quish to get his suopport in the run up to the Democratic convention, he said he'd never run as an independent. But that's not quite the way it turned out, according to the Milford Weekly:

"Lieberman called me at my house because he wanted my vote at the convention," said Quish. "He said, 'No Jim, I will not run as an independent if I lose the primary.' He told me there was no way he would do that. I felt betrayed."

8. lieberman used more "petty cash" than almost two dozen candidates COMBINED!
http://www.myleftnutmeg.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=4182

Yesterday readers at My Left Nutmeg dove into the October FEC filings of twenty senate candidates - including politicians who fought a hard primary and won, politicians who lost their primary, and politicians who now face a serious general election challenge, but had no primary challenger. I believe that the list of candidates we covered is a solid cross-section of those three types of candidates. The goal was simple: find out how much these candidates are spending under the designation "petty cash," which would enable us to have a sense of what is a normal usage of this type of expenditure in a senate campaign.

The findings were clear. The twenty candidates combined for a grand total of $390,211 in petty cash expenditures listed in their October FEC filing. Joe Lieberman was responsible for $387,561 and the remaining nineteen candidates combined for $2,650. More specifically, though, that $2,650 came from only three other candidates: Harold Ford ($1500), Lincoln Chafee ($650), and Ned Lamont ($500). The remaining sixteen candidates studied had no petty cash disbursements listed on their October filing. The average petty cash expenditures for the campaigns studied is over $19,500. Remove Lieberman and that number drops to $139.47. Remove Lamont, Chafee, and Ford and you're left with an average petty cash expenditure for sixteen candidates in hotly contested races of $0.00.

And yet this is being ignored. WTF?

Something happened with that money.

12. Vote-buying, voter suppression...
...the list is endless.

And it stuns me that DUers - who rightly despise lieberman - are missing this HUGE story.

But it IS down to the last week before The Big Day, so I can sort of understand people being distracted. That, and arguing with bigots who don't want GLBT folk to have equal rights (not talking about timing, but those homophobes here who oppose equal marriage rights for all).

14. since I live in CT, I think it was to buy signatures for the Indi. run
No one, I mean No one saw enough people canvasing to get the signatures for Joe's run as an independent. So some how I think the word was out that the must get signatures by any means needed.

just my speculation.

13. The MSM and the FEC will not act until after the election, a shame
to be sure since he is the only candidate in all of the USA to spend over $2,000 in petty cash and he out spent the next closest senator by 3,000 times. Here is a graph from spazeboy
