And speaking from one who had the misfortune of being represented all those years by Jesse, Virginians DO NOT want to continue having Allen represent Virginia. He is a disgrace to the fine Commonwealth of Virginia. All Virginians should vote for Webb!

3. I fully understand and disagree

Only as I think the analogy is not the best possible fit. Pushing the Helms analogy I think hides the bigger problem and does so in a way which hides similar actions by others (several Colorado Republicans for instance). Allen is of a different generation and different mentality than Helms and I think represents a different form of racism brought on more by feelings of entitlement from class superiority, not a fall out of the original Civil Rights acts. Frist's son (the one who wore the Confederate costume) is part of this problem as well, Bush is too - witness his response to Katrina. This is not the Old or New South and to try and label as such with such comparisons is failing to see the real issue which is class oriented. Look more to the intent and thought behind the very racist book, "The Bell Curve", and not to any regionalism embodied by the Dixiecrats.
