Many people who don't study hard or do their homework
will never end up in Iraq or do anything else for their country. They choose not to better themselves, don't bathe regularly and post on free republic or hate in the name of Jesus Christ for focus on the family.

And alot of those people Senator Kerry was referring to end up getting elected to public office as republicans. Then they lie and get our kids killed.

bush and his supporters would be ashamed of themselves if they had a conscience.

1. No shit!
They ended up sticking yellow magnets on their trucks and voting for Dimson while sitting in their easy chairs, watching Fox News, and calling anyone who disagrees a traitor. That's where lack of education and lazyness lead you.

2. What I can't figure out is
why the hell we don't send THOSE assholes--who choose not to better themselves, don't bathe regularly and post on free republic or hate in the name of Jesus Christ for focus on the family--to Iraq, and keep the far more fit, decent, and intelligent servicemembers here at home.

In the event of an actual threat to this country (as opposed to the fraudulent "threats" of Iraq and Iran), I'd rather have our servicemembers at hand to fend off the threat, than be stuck with a bunch of pussy wingnuts who'd be hiding under their recliner chairs.

4. I'd love for there to be a serious discussion of the draft in this country
bush's base would evaporate. Those who love the war, wave the flag, question the patriotism of those who did serve would shit their pants if they actually had to do something for our country.

5. I saw an excellent show at about 5:30 a.m. Sat., on one of the history
channels. It was only a half hour long. It was about the history of the draft, and they had a professor there who briefly outlined the history of the draft.

The second half of the show, they had Charlie Rangel. I like Rangel, but I almost changed the channel, because I felt like he was going to plug his proposed draft bill. My thoughts were: he's made up this draft bill--with no exceptions--to prove a point, but he's gotta pretend he really wants to bring back the draft, because that's PART of proving his point. (His point being essentially the same as your point.)

To my surprise, Rangel freely stated that he was proposing his draft bill for the sole purpose of proving the point that you just made.

The professor chuckled and said what he was doing was laudable, but he also said something that weighs heavily on the minds of those who actually have draft-age children: He said, "Your plan is good, but as for passing the thing, having draft-age sons, I'm not sure I'd like to try this experiment, because we have an Imperial Presidency at the moment, and it might backfire."

Charlie replied, "Don't worry... before it ever got passed, it would have to be debated, and the debate on it would end the war."

I felt better after that.

3. If these ignorant idjits were educated they would have nothing
to do with Boosh and his ilk.

Ignorance breeds fear, and that is where these fools live.
