CNN,FOX and MSNBC get burned on this Kerry story
As confirmed by Matthew Dowd and Tweety that Kerry actually was joking about Bush. So now in the end Kerry comes out the winner. Not only was he
right about his comment he got a free poke at this administration. Only if the media would of just viewed the tape.

3. Its ok, you know.
I'll tell ya, Kerry was NOT my first or second choice (in the primaries) for 2004.

But he did take one for us on this. For 24 hours we will talk about Kerry - well, time is running out for these asshol*s - we just have to keep the clock moving. They have to hit a hail Mary.

So, good for you John Kerry!!!

Joe

6. I wonder if Snow with lose his job over this
He's the one who started it this morning.

It's gotten Iraq back in the news, and letting people know * is too stupid to know when he's being called stupid.

7. The story isn't over...unfortunately...and your average joe has NO CLUE
that KErry was joking about BUsh...
I do, and you do, but they don't...

Just look at the polls on it...it is not the freepers who are "Freeping" them...its that people REALLY think that Kerry was INSULTING THE TROOPS...again, look at the quick polls on it, it is overwhelming...

Ok, so it gets the topic to Iraq...but now, people have in their head that dems think the military is stupid - again, NOT because Kerry meant that, but because the news media didn't tell the truth reporting it...

Its sick, I'm sick to my stomach, I think Kerry is a really good person, and I KNOW that he would never dream of actually saying what he did...but nonetheless, he said it, the Republicans are spinning it for all its worth, and the newsmedia is frothing over the hours/days (up until the election) of coverage they have - and probably thinking about what a great story that could get about how the Republcians turned it around...

I'm sorry, I know its stupid, I know it was a mis-statement, of which Bush makes a thousand a day...but MOST of the coverage of this has been so swung to the Republican claim (on ABC, John McCain was on there saying how Kerry should apologize) that what most people will do is:

1. not delve into the details of the "mis-statement"
2. assume that dems think the troops are stupid...

It is a "disaster" moment, and I know we want to believe that the voters will realize that Kerry mis-spoke, I know we want to believe that the media will simply tell the truth, but they wont, and they wont...this is a big deal, and I'm absolutely sick over it!

17. If it wasn't a Kerry flub, it would have been something else.
Republicans have been accusing every Democrat of being everything but a child of God for years. Every time a Democrat opens his/her mouth, they accuse them of 1) supporting terrorists; 2) hating the troops; 3) being elitist; 4) wanting America to lose the war; blah blah blah . . .

So why is the fact that they are today accusing Kerry of saying the troops are stupid? If Kerry hadn't said a word, does anyone think that the Republicans would have just kept their mouths shut and been really really sweet to us?

It's ridiculous for Democrats to be jumping all of Kerry as if he's responsible for Republicans being desperate assholes. He's just the latest target - and if he weren't available, they'd just zero in on someone else.

And, frankly, I'd rather they beat up on Kerry this week than any of the candidates who are poised to kick Republican ass in one of the critical states.

21. Take a deep breath...
This is an inside the beltway media shitstorm that will not last more than a day or so. Hell it's already off the CNN headline page online...lasted less time there than the Webb "sex novel" scandal.

The only way this hurts us is if we let it...getting sucked into reacting exactly how the Republicans want us to react is how it hurts us.

No apologies, and no intimation that Kerry did anything wrong...because he didn't.

9.  Lies, Distortions and Distractions are all they've got.

I've been asking this question on several boards and chat lines and buddy lists. I hope you'll join me, so that we can have a Ripple effect. The GOP may have the money and mainstream media, but we have the net and the righteous anger. Let's put it to good use together.

Here is what I think the MOST IMPORTANT question we can be asking voters at this time.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
WHY IS IT THAT BUSH AND HIS PARTY HAVE NOTHING POSITIVE WHATSOEVER TO SHOW FOR THEIR SIX YEARS IN POWER? WHY CAN'T THEY RUN ON THEIR "ACCOMPLISHMENTS?"
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Maybe because negative and dishonest campaign tactics are all the GOP have to run on? Unfortunately, this sort of dirty politics seems to work with lots of voters. Especially when repeated over and over by the "Liberal News Media."

We Democrats ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT ALLOW the GOP to benefit from these dishonest and, as in the case of Michael J. Fox, just plain disgusting tactics.
They are desperate to distract voters from the fact that they are inept and unable to run the country. Don't let them.

We have to fight back, answer the Republican's lies with truths, but don't let them keep us debating the same issue over and over, another GOP tactic. After we make our point once, then move on and refuse to discuss it anymore. Use links to back up your statements.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
POINT OUT THEIR INEPTITUDE INSTEAD!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We can't allow the GOP to set the agenda or define the debate. That's how they win.
We can't allow them to distract voters from the real, disasterous failures of the Republican party.

We need to get our message out, to go to other message boards, chat-lines, buddy lists, emails, letters to local news papers, etc. and get our voices heard. I also like the idea one poster had, to make home-made signs for your home and yards.
Like Kerry said, Don't allow the GOP to get away with anything this election. It's time the Democrats took off the gloves, hammered the GOP, and took back our country.

No Retreat, No Surrender

16. No, they did NOT get burned
They knew the story was wrong when they went on the air with it. Just like they knew the "Swift Boat" idiots stories were false, and just like they knew that the Howard Dean "scream" audio track had been manipulated. They knew and they aired it all anyway.

By tomorrow they will probably just stop talking about it. They will not apologize for having gotten it so wrong, they will just offer the truth as if it were just an opposing opinion, and they will make mention of it only briefly. Then they will move on and act as if they have done no damage.

Do not think for even a second that they did not know what they were doing. It was an intentional smear, and it will have the effect they intended. We need to realize the magnitude of what we are up against, and fight even harder.

18. I almost crashed my car
when I heard this on the radio. It is seven days before the election, the Republicans were politically starving and Kerry threw them a bone. Any politically astute person would have known Kerry was talking about Chimpy but unfortunately most folks are not politically involved. Kerry's "botched joke" will be on the front pages of all morning newspapers. Hopefully this disaster will die quickly.
