Thanks Burger for posting this in the PA lounge, but I wanted to share this with everyone because Pennsylvania may be everyone's favorite state come November 8th.

So far we definately know we have wins with:

Bob Casey over Rick Santorum, PA Senate
Lois Murphy over Jim Gerlach, PA-06
Joe Sestak over Curt Weldom, PA-07
Chris Carney over Don Sherwod, PA-10

But there have been polls that have come out that show the other Murphy pulling ahead:

Patrick Murphy over Mike Fitzpatrick, PA-08
To me this makes sense because that's my old district and these people are moderate republicans whereas Fitzpatrick has come across as a neo-con nut job (last represenative, Jim Greenwood was one of the most liberal republicans in the house)

AND

Jason Altimire over Melissa Hart, PA-04
Jason isn't ahead yet but he's polling within the margin so this could be a squeaker of a win!!

So come on you other 49 states, Pennsylvania is doing their job of turning congress Blue, don't let them have all the fun!

2. How in the good lord's name did the Sierra club endorse a nut job like him
Seriously, there's a reason I've stop giving money to the Sierra Club after they sold my phone number to MBNA.

:grr:

3. Fitzpatrick's district is my old district as well...........
I'd be very surprised if Patrick Murphy beats him. Fitzpatrick is popular in Bucks County. Many Dems will vote for him. I've seen quite a few yards with signs for Dem candidates alongside of Fitzpatrick signs. Was surprised to see the Sierra Club endorse Fitzpatrick.

10. LTTE in the Post Gazette for Santorum & R's are from working class
Not the upper middle class of Sewickley or Fox Chapel.

How do I know? Well, I'll tell ya. We have a home assessment website for Allegheny County and if you look at the homes owned by the people writing support letters to the paper for Santorum, Hart and the Bushie administration, these are the people with homes worth $100000 OR LESS. Talk about voting against your own interests...it blows one's mind.

4. I wouldn't count the Murphy-Gerlach race as a sure thing.
The polls have been rocking back and forth on that one lately. This is my district. The R's are absolutely ruthless here. They control Chester County voter services 100 percent and will certainly be able to make hay there.

Lois Murphy CAN win, but I wouldn't say it's in the bag.

5. My sense is ...
If we put Casey down, and get three house seats, we will have done our part ... Weldon and Sherwood had good self inflicted wounds that give enough room to get a win ... Altimire, Murphy and the 6th, still REAL close or the repugs up ... AND, PA and the voting machines ...

6. The ads for Altmire and Hart are really flying here in the Pittsburgh market.
The DCCC is putting more money into the Altmire race, and I also heard that MoveOn bought some ad time for him.

I'd so love to see Jason Altmire win in PA-04. :)

9. WashPost article today on the $$$ spent on the 5 PA House races...

National Parties Target Pennsylvania

By KIMBERLY HEFLING
The Associated Press
Tuesday, October 31, 2006; 7:58 PM

WASHINGTON -- The national campaign committees have spent $18 million combined on a few House races in Pennsylvania, a state Democrats see as critical to their hopes of capturing control of the House.

The spending is more than the $12 million combined spent in Ohio or the $9 million combined dedicated to Connecticut, the other top states with several competitive House races.

In Pennsylvania, the money has gone to help candidates in five contested House races, with most of it concentrated in three congressional districts in the Philadelphia suburbs, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.
