Quinnipiac to host final U.S. Senate debate on Nov. 2
Monday, Oct. 30, 2006

On Thursday, Nov. 2, Fox 61, WTIC-TV will provide the three major U.S. Senate candidates with their last chance to debate face-to-face before the Nov. 7 election.

The “2006 Connecticut U.S. Senate Debate” will be broadcast live from the Quinnipiac campus from 7 to 8 p.m. The program will be rebroadcast on Fox 61 and sister station CW 20, WTXX at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. Fox 61 News Political Correspondent Shelly Sindland will moderate the debate.

Democratic candidate Ned Lamont and Republican candidate Alan Schlesinger have confirmed that they will take part in the debate. Scheduled panelists for the debate are Rick Hancock, assistant dean of the School of Communications, and Av Harris, capitol reporter for WNPR.

“This is an important race, not only for the voters of Connecticut, but for the rest of the country. Fox 61 is proud to provide one final opportunity for the candidates to face each other just days before the election,” said Fox 61 and CW 20 Vice President and General Manager Richard Graziano.

Members of the media who hold state capitol credentials will be admitted into the debate. For any additional questions regarding credentials and admittance into the debate, please contact Fox 61 and CW 20 News Director Bob Rochstroh at 860-723-2050.

1. I bet Lieby will flip-flop & show up at the last minute
He seems to like surprising Lamont & the media, and Lieby likes to be on both sides of every issue.

2. As well he should be excluded
Third party and independent candidates have always been shut out of debates. Why should Lieberman be any different?

3. How dare they exclude the "Connecticut for Lieberman" candidate, Holy Joe, himself!
A victory for Joe Liberman is a victory for George W. Bush! What a totally selfish man!
