VoteVets' kick ass new ad
Just in case anyone wants to discuss something other than "the Kerry incident", VoteVets has a great new ad out...

There's a TN version (up at the DU video forum here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x1114)

There's also a national kick ass version (up at the DU video forum here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x1230)

It's also front paged at Wes Clark's blog, along with a link to contrbiute to keep the ad on the air and a link to favorite the youtube video, here: http://securingamerica.com/ccn/node/9329

A blunt new ad says the world is more dangerous… because of Iraq.

VoteVets Action Fund made up of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans, is today unveiling an ad that directly takes on the now-infamous “These Are the Stakes” ad that began airing earlier this month.

Featuring four Iraq veterans and VoteVets.org Advisory Board Member, retired General Wesley Clark, the ad reminds Americans that the next time they see ads declaring the world is a more dangerous place, they should remember it is that way, because of Iraq.

It's a great ad. Let's help keep it on the air....because, IMHO, the focus really should be on Iraq and the elections next week and not on any other political personalities.

1. i agree
This whole Kerry thing is a smoke-screen, a storm in a tea-cup. Bush is doing his damnedest to deflect attention away from the fact that his whole premiership has been an absolute disaster for the US and the world. It's not just Iraq - the whole War on Terror has been a farce, the erosion of civil liberties, Hurricane Katrina, torture. History will judge that he's quite possibly the worst president in history.

2. I read over on dKos
That the national version is gonna be carried on CNN and Fox! So it should help Democrats everwhere, at all levels.

I also found out, when I contributed at https://secure.democracyinaction.com/dia/organizations/iavapac/shop/custom.jsp?donate_page_KEY=1191&t=GoodNewOne.dwt
that you get to vote for which local market where VoteVets airs it next. I voted for Arizona. I can't stand Kyl, and I think with the right GOTV effort, we could get rid of him. Arizona Repubs tend not to be bible thumpers, so they're more likely to sit this one out.

The thing I love most about this ad is that it works GOTV at both ends. Reminds Dems, indies and moderate 'pubs that it's Bush (and his rubber stamp Congress) who has fucked up Iraq, so they need to get off their butts and vote. Tells more conservative Repubs that we won't all die if the Dems win back the House and/or Senate, so if they aren't happy with Foley, Abramoff etc. it'll be ok if they just stay home.

3. oh, that's a great feature
I think, if I wanted to stimulate more interest, I should have titled this thread "Kerry, Kerry, Kerry, apology, Ford, Kerry, Kerry, Kerry, apology, Kerry, Kerry, Kerry, Ford...Imus" :P

7. It is sad....
Well, at least they're noticing the ad in other places....

kos posted it: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/11/1/11307/1812

Josh Marshall did as well: http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/010711.php

And Mother Jones blog has an entry:
Sponsored by the VoteVets PAC, today’s Democratic retort builds on the party’s efforts to decouple the Iraq war from the War on Terror. It closes with Clark standing in front of a replay of the bin Laden ad like a well-dressed schoolteacher. “So, if you see commercials, telling you to be afraid of terrorism,” he says, “remember, it’s because of Iraq.”

10. We need to contribute some cash if we want this seen more
VoteVets Action Fund isn't the DNC, the DSCC, or the DCCC, it's a small organization that is producing kick ass ads that nail Republicans on Iraq. This Ad has not gotten much free media play. It's not like when the media gave the Swiftboaters millions of dollars of free air time for their anti-Kerry hatchet job in 2004, claiming it was "news coverage". If we want this talked about we have to help fund it, and also circulate links for friends and family to view it through emails.
