Kerry Quote as Absurd as Bush Harming Our Country Quote
Remember this gem?

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." - Pres. George W. Bush, Aug. 04

To take it literally would say that Bush won't stop thinking about new ways to harm our country.

We might say that statement is pretty close to the truth and that he has hurt this country in more ways than one. But no one really thought that Bush was going to don a ski mask and join the terrorists on camera for the next terrorist threat videotape.

In short, taking that literal take on his quote was absurd.

While NO ONE in the "liberal" media, or even in the liberal blogasphere, took Bush's quote literally, it hasn't kept the Bush administration at its highest and most formal levels to be this absurd w/ Kerry's quote.

They KNOW what Kerry said. They KNOW the joke was botched. They KNOW the joke was at Bush. But they also KNOW that it's hard to articulate. They KNOW that it's a tar baby (the sticky animal in the Remis story, not a racist slur).

Progressive radio should be all over this. I haven't heard the 'new ways to harm our country' quote replayed since '04.

What the hell people!?!

This is the perfect comparision.

Can anyone imagine if Bush's quote was taken literally? The FBI taking Bush away in cuffs for questioning and his presidency in question because he publicily admitted to scheming and planning to harm America?

The quote is there people.

Want to hear it? Look it up at Dubyaspeak.com it's there.

I should hear this comparison on progressive radio every 20 minutes. Make these people shut the hell up!

If anyone here actually thinks this is going away before the election they've got another thing coming.

Either the Dems stiffel it or it smothers the Dems.

This can, and probably will, cost votes; unless it's turnaround.

5. smoking gun
I know the smoking gun covered Bush's harm our country quote.

They posted video and it had quite a bit before the infamous quote and after the quote. It underscores how much of a benefit of the doubt was given to the quote. It could have been cropped down to just the key words, but it wasn't ... unless you're talking about Dubyaspeak.com or buzzflash or something.

It really shows you how that quote could have been played by the Dems, but they didn't go that low. They could have, but they didn't.

6. Complete 'new ways to harm our country ...' quote
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0805042bush1.html

That's it.

If anyone here in this forum has the means to get this out to progressive radio, to youtube, and beyond. Make it so.

I really believe the comparison is fair.

Whether a person takes Kerry's quote literally or Bush's quote literally. Either senerio is taking it in a different way than it was meant.

Comparing the two, I believe, makes that point.

8. Kerry's Complete Quote
His complete quote is good, but it needs something to contrast it to so a point can be made about the absurdity of taking it in the context it's been taken.
