If we lose campaigns simply because of Kerry's joke, whether it was |
|
a gaff or not, the victory wasn't ours to begin with. I believe we will win on Tuesday and capture at least the House, and I feel better and better about the Senate.
If McCaskill loses, it will not be because of Kerry. The same holds true of Webb, Casey, Brown, Ford, etc.
If folks are that easily bent to vote for their congressional representative based on what one person says who ISN"T EVEN RUNNING-then the country has slipped past the point of no return and cannot be fixed even if we capture an overwhelming majority. If that is in fact the case, we have a much bigger problem than any joke told by anyone!
In a much larger context, Kerry has worked hard for this country and has spoken out, albeit not to the satisfaction of some. His comments were correct and although I don't personally think he should have apologized, he did it to move the issue off the front pages. If the thugs keep playing on it after the apology, then it is clear they have nothing to run on which is the real message. I have faith in the candidates to be able to stay on their messages and point out that their opponents have nothing new to offer and/or are corrupt and should be thrown out. If we don't have faith in our candidates to do that, then why are we voting for them in the first place, whether they are dems or not? Has KKKarl Rove got us so shaken we cannot stand up for ourselves? I realize we cannot trust him and them BUT we have to fight that by trusting in ourselves more. If we focus on what he does rather than what we CAN do, we have already lost and we are right where he wants us.
I believe we can win big on Tuesday.

1. The GOP is still running away from Bush despite the Kerry gaffe. |

2. If we do not win, it will because of electronic voting machines, |
|
and with the enormous lead we have in the polls, especially for the House, if we do NOT win this time and do NOT go to the streets in outrage, our democracy is dead.

after the repubes and the corporate media beat the horse beyond death is allow them "fix" the vote and then say that the american public had a change of heart due to kerry's hoof in mouth disease.
that would explain the vast difference between the polls, and the reported vote.
it is perfect for a set up.
if they can change the numbers, they will. all they have to do is convince enough of the sheeple that the mood DID switch over night.
they were successful last time. expect it again.
oh, i'm sorry. i'm spouting doom and gloom due to my preoccupation with conspiracies.....

4. The people most bothered by this |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 07:51 PM by elperromagico
are Republicans who are offended/"outraged" and Democrats who wish they had access to a time machine and a roll of Kerry-strength electrical tape. Those Republicans would have voted Republican anyway and those Democrats are going to vote Democratic anyway.
I wonder what the reaction of independent voters is... they're favoring us by heavy margins right now.

5. My concern isn't that any minds will be changed, but that... |
|
..outrage will help get Republicans to the polls.

8. This is a perfectly valid concern. |
|
The question for me is, how many Republican votes had they already lost because of rampant corruption? How many do they gain back because of Kerry's statement?
My point is that these voters already thought Kerry hates the troops. So what are they outraged about?
I wish Kerry had handled this differently but, if somebody had to make a gaffe like this, it might as well be him. Voters already have an opinion of him.

6. I'm a diehard political junkie and even I |

have tuned out the bushit commercials, polls and sound bites on the news. So I agree, I think who ever wins on Tuesday, had won long before now. :toast:
