It's not NICE to RAPE Mother Nature (then cover up the evidence)
Two federal agencies have opened investigations into whether the Bush misadministration has worked to suppress evidence of global warming.

Both NASA and the Commerce Dept. are looking into allegations that the work of scientists was censored and their conclusions suppressed.

Sen. Frank Lautenberg, (D-N.J.), said he was informed that the inspector generals for the Commerce Department and NASA had begun "co- ordinated, sweeping investigations of the Bush administration's censorship and suppression" of federal research into global warming.

"These investigations are critical because the Republicans in Congress have ignored this serious problem," Lautenberg said.

He said the investigations "will uncover internal documents and agency correspondence that may expose widespread misconduct." He added, "Taxpayers do not fund scientific research so the Bush White House can alter it."

This story is the flip side of the War in Iraq. At the same time we're fighting a war to continue our gluttonous consumption of oil, our government is suppressing the scientific evidence that that consumption is literally putting the world and future generations in peril.

There's a word for such greed, hypocrisy, bloodlust, and craven indifference:

EVIL.

It's just plain evil.

I take that back: it's truly extraordinary evil.
