Mark at The Premise blows McCain and Clinton out of the water.
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 08:02 AM by whometense
All I can say is, GO MARK!!!!

Fallout from the mugging of John Kerry seems to have fallen off, so I thought I’d tie up a few loose ends. For a wrap-up, including who supported Senator Kerry and who backpedaled in the face of the Republican onslaught, see Liberal Values and Taylor Marsh. For speculation about how this all might affect the elections, see Donkey Rising.

I was particularly glad to see Sherrod Brown, Eric Massa and Max Cleland standing up for Mr. Kerry. I’m not concerned about Harold Ford, Jr. or anyone else in a tight race distancing themselves, because I know they’ve put millions of dollars and years of their lives into next Tuesday. There are two people, however, who deserve a special place in hell, and I’ll be getting to them in a moment...

...Which brings me to 2008, and the first point I’ll make about the race for the White House. There are only two ways candidates can run: either emphasize national security, or ignore national security and run as a political personality. The leading candidates in each party, John McCain in the Republican Party and Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Party, are each respectively well-positioned for these approaches. Senator McCain is a veteran and a hawk, eager to expand the war in Iraq. Ms. Clinton has no national security credentials, but is fawned over as Democratic royalty. They are both clearly formidable contenders.

But they also share something else in common. When George Bush and the Republican Party decided to beat John Kerry down, John McCain and Hillary Clinton decided to pile on and add a few kicks of their own. Both of these people know John Kerry personally, they know the Republican playbook first hand, they’ve been abused by these same people themselves, and they know full well that John Kerry would never have disparaged the troops. But they both saw a political opportunity to profit by the bloody works of George Bush and Karl Rove, and they didn’t hesitate to take it.

John McCain and Hillary Clinton. The new Liebermans.

2. Get The 'Story' Off The News. Get The Focus On shrub's Failures
Keith Olbermann is right on with his commentary on shrub and the use of he non-insult.

But the GOP hate machine was using up news space that prevent the truth from the front page. Democratic Party needs to clear the deck and continue the attacks. The story had to be over.

The story is over.

Bush Lied. People Died. Media Cheered.

10. But the story did fuel Olbermann's response using SERIOUS TRUTHS against BushInc
that would NEVER HAVE been heard - the story should be the smackdown of BushInc for LYING to divide the nation YET AGAIN.

Keith gave us everything needed to load up and shoot down the lies of their machine.

Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 08:19 AM by babylonsister
Dems bashing Dems. Has Clinton learned nothing? She put her self interests above the party, and I won't forget that, Hil.
And McCain? You're not worthy of licking Kerry's shoes.

6. Hillary's comment about Kerry was the last straw for me.
The republicans, including McCain, had already put the knife in Kerry. Hillary just had to come along and twist the knife to make sure it wouldn't come out.

16. The Democratic Golden Rule here-- do unto Hillary as she has done
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 07:58 PM by Muddy Waters Guitar
unto her fellow Democrats. McCain was also slimy, but he at the very least has the excuse of being from the opposition party-- you expect him to pile on. But Hillary is supposed to be one of our "leading lights" (or some crap like that), and she backstabs one of her own colleagues, not only in the party but in the Senate itself?

Hillary Rodham Clinton has again shown that she has little to no loyalty to anyone other than herself, least of all her own beleaguered Democratic colleagues. She deserves no support from the rest of us. We have far too many strong alternatives for 2008-- Obama, Feingold, maybe even Edwards-- to blunder into something as stupid as nominating her. Dems who actually care about our party and our most basic values should be mobilizing vigorously to stop her for 2008, for our own sake as a viable political organization. I've already encountered scores of hard-working and loyal Democrats among my own contacts who would go Third Party in an instant if Hillary were nominated, and she's now working hard to push the rest of the party in the same direction.

9. Love this Massa smackdown
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 10:55 AM by Boo Boo
Kuhl (Eric Massa's opponent) tries to badger Massa into disavowing Kerry and giving back money donated by Kerry to Massa's campaign. Massa snatches the bat out of Kuhl's hand and gives him a few licks. Kerry supporters might not appreciate Massa's quip about Bush, Kuhl, AND Kerry having aready had their chance, but otherwise this statement is a perfect example of how to respond. He just slaps the guy around.

Congressional candidate and 24-year Navy veteran Eric Massa today responded to the current flap over Senator John Kerry’s remarks about the war in Iraq, and to a request from his opponent, incumbent Randy Kuhl. The Kuhl campaign this morning called on Massa to disavow Kerry’s remarks, and to return any money donated from Kerry’s Political Action Committee.

Massa said, "Randy Kuhl's so-called challenge is nonsense. Our fighting men and women in Iraq are the finest force in the world, but they’re stuck with weak and dishonest civilian leadership. Randy Kuhl has done nothing to support the troops, and just toes the Washington line about 'staying the course.' General John Batiste characterized Kuhl and his position as 'uninformed' and 'lacking moral courage.' Enough said."

Massa added, "George Bush and John Kerry and Randy Kuhl have had their chance and failed to bring home either victory or the troops. It's time for a change down in Washington, and change is coming on Tuesday."

Massa’s campaign manager, Mike Nolan, also attacked Kuhl’s request about the Kerry money. “You have to give Randy Kuhl points for audacity," he said. "For a guy who’s taken thousands of dollars from pharmaceutical companies and Wall Street firms and sponsored a bill to privatize social security, he has some nerve talking about money. Kuhl took $20,000 from Tom Delay and then cast the deciding vote on CAFTA, which exported American jobs. Then Kuhl refused to return the dirty money, even after Delay was indicted. If Randy Kuhl gives back the tainted money from Delay, or from Tom Reynold’s NRCC, or from the big drug companies, then we can talk. Until then, this so-called challenge is actually kind of sad."

Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 03:24 PM by blm
Corpmedia is forcing Clinton into the front spot spot for Dems and trying to take Kerry out FOR HER.

Which is NOT going to happen.
