It's always the same here in the Texas 22nd (DeLay's district)
In the last presidential election there were hundreds of stolen Kerry signs while the Bush signs remained untouched. Here, gradually, the Lampson (D) signs are being stolen and vandalized while the Sekula Gibbs (R) signs crop up in places from where the Lampson signs had been posted.

Someone is vandalizing the Lampson signs by putting a sticker over the front of the sign that says "A vote for Lampson is a vote for speaker Pelosi."

I always wonder to myself: "can we win when we are running a fair game against such thugs?" I want so badly to get a Democratic congressman representing my district (it would be the first time in my life!). But I wonder if we will ever be able to win with opponents like these. If we do not win next week I will know in my heart of hearts that this election has been stolen again.

1. This is the first time mine haven't been vandalized!
Since the 80's, my yard signs have been smashed during the last two weeks of the campaign. This year, I've had them up on my front lawn and they're still in perfect condition! I think it's a good sign!

2. Keep the Faith

This year, even in TX-22, the large issues of Iraq and corruption will overwhelm any GOP dirty tricks.

3. Hey, I'm in the 22nd also. The Lampson sign I put up a
few weeks ago is, surprisingly, still there. But there aren't many signs around here at all.
I'm hoping for the best. And doin' a bit of prayin'...

4. This is the first time my neighborhood has not been
overrun with repub signs. Only one neighbor has a Sekula-Gibbs sign up. No one else has any.

8. Even better
Hot pepper extract concentrate.

Dilute it to about 5-1. Spray bottle.

6. it ain't just Texas ...
Up here in PA ... I doing the GOTV in my area of my precinct, two developments ...

I TWICE have posted signs in front of the development of all our state and local candidates on weekends, only to drive out on Tuesday to find they had disappeared - my money is on the garbage people who collect on Tuesdays or that they are in the dumpster by the townhomes being built near the front of the development ...

I still have a good stock in hand, and am waiting until Tuesday morning to post them up - our polling area is at the back end of our development, and people will have to drive up the main entrance to the polling place to vote ...

7. Maybe a Change is coming?
I live in red Williamson County Texas. My signs, including one in support of the bond election for schools, have been up for 3 weeks with no damage. Their are ZERO signs for Rick Perry and John Carter in my neighborhood. Two years ago there were Bush signs in about 50% of the yards and 2 (including my house) Kerry signs. Something is happening.

9. We knew they'd be stealing ours.
After the primary, we ordered an additional 6,000 signs.

They can't steal them as fast as we put them up.

10. Lampson was our representative before the
redistricting screwed him. He's a good guy & was a good representative -- would love to see him win again!

11. It happens everywhere, sadly.
And I'm sure there are places where asshole Democrats are vandalizing and stealing Republican signs. It's never right.

personally, I think the best recourse is simply to replace, replace, replace. Eventually the vandals/thieves will tire of the game.
