I'm here in Northern California and registered to |
|
vote absentee years ago. I made sure of my registration by calling the county's registrar of voters and confimring everything LAST week, along with DH who also confirmed his absentee status. I'm a registered Democrat and DH is Independent. Funnily enough, his packet came last friday, two days later. However, I'm still waiting for my absentee packet and both of us are getting pretty pissed at this point, coming to the conclusion that the reason I haven't recieved my ballots is because of my registration. Is this something that's happening to other folks too??? The last day to mail the ballot is TOMORROW, as in it has to be postmarked with tomorrow's date and HERE I AM WITHOUT ANYTHING TO VOTE ON BUT ALL OF THE POLITICAL JUNK MAIL SEEMS TO BE MAKING IT'S WAY TO MY ADDRESS!!
WHAT GIVES???!!!:grr:

6. oh yeah for sure, we moved here almost 7 years ago, i was born and raised |
|
in mass and then did 3 years in Houston i'd rather forget, then we ended up here because of my husbands job. The population was 55,000 at the time and still a lot of farm land and cows, now the population is around 130,000 and developers are running everything and the people, well the people are not happy. Growing up in Boston area corruption was business as usual but here, my god the first scandals started hitting and people were so shocked! "Corruption here in elk grove, well aye nevah!" and i say, "welcome to being a city people"
I have 7 more years here until my daughter gets in to the college of her choice (hopefully) than i can hammer the sign in the lawn and get the hell out of here.

5. I don't trust the machines... |
|
had MANY FAMILY MEMBERS in Columbus who shared nightmares with the machines flipping the votes and in California, ALL absentee votes are counted. It seems a much more secure manner of casting my vote, my health problems aside.
