Just wondering if ANY candidate has mentioned reversing the Military Commissions Act
which took away Habeas Corpus? Or reinstating any of the Constitutional Rights that have been "voted away" by this Congress?
I'm new here, so hope this isn't a duplicate.

10. Oh, Yea!
I saw him on CSPAN about 2 mos. ago at a book signing in NYC. He gave a terrific, wonderful speech in this quaint little bookstore. EXTREEEEMLY IMPRESSIVE GUY.
Thanks for the memory jolt.

5. The losers in Congress
said they were going to vote fpr it because they new eveantually it would be declared unconstitutional. How's that for courage?

11. Heck no, let's keep it to send GW to Gitmo!
As I read it, the Act essentially gives the President or the Sec'y of Defense the right to arrest ANYONE for aiding or abetting terrorists, just on the say-so of either of those officials. No evidence needs to be presented for such an arrest and incarceration.

And of course certain forms of torture have now been officially sanctioned.

So...consider a scenario in which we get a Democratic President in '08 with a Democratic Congress! Who needs a messy, long-drawn-out impeachment, with all its pesky legal considerations?

"Welcome to Guantanemo, Prisoner Bush. How 'bout a refreshing little dunk in the water?"

Hee hee, the mind reels! Unfortunately, you can bet the farm he'll try to wangle some sort of blanket pardon during his sunset years in office. But he'll have to cut quite a deal if we get enough representation in Congress!

12. Quite Pragmatic of you
That scenario is a beautiful one! Only problem is how many of us will beat him to Gitmo in the next 2 yrs!

13. Considering there are Americans out there who don't know
the name of the Vice President, I don't blame candidates for not bringing up habeas corpus. It's too complicated for a campaign ad. Get elected and then take care of it.
