October is over and I wasn't surprised. |
|
Is the October Surprise coming up on Monday, Nov 6, when Saddam gets sentenced to death?

I can even see that backfiring on bushco. "Look at us - we're killing the guy who it turns out wasn't any actual threat to us, and we long ago stopped caring about the guy who actually pulled off 9/11."

2. I have a bad feeling that the "surprise" comes AFTER 11/07 |
|
Can we say "Democrats getting 'caught' committing electronic vote fraud', everyone?
Despite the recent showering of attention, the media has been stunningly vague about WHO controls the voting machines and the "irregularities" in 2002 and 2004. Kinda makes it seem like Republicans OR Democrats might steal the election...
What better way to cement Rove's permanent Republican majority than by forever associating the Democrats with election fraud?
...god damn this tinfoil hat gets hot...

3. I have had the same thought myself, samfish. |

Just seems kinda ODD that the GOP's favorite media lapdogs have started mentioning these issues JUUUUUST as they are about to lose BIG on Tuesday.
And, BTW: WELCOME to DU! :hi:

6. It's not that relevent to the average person until it is close |
|
to election time...
You have to face the fact that most people don't follow politics as closely as we do here on DU and that the "news" outlets rarely, if ever, present something that challenges the status quo unless there is some kind of public outcry...
The media no longer searches for news, they react to events...

7. Very true. It's so easy to forget... |
|
...that our basic DESIRE to be well-informed actually sets us apart as members of a SADLY small minority.
Because it is so EASY to actually get real FACTS and real NEWS...I forget that most people aren't doing it.
Maybe I don't "forget" it so much as I REPRESS it... cuz it really makes me sad.

4. October surprise was on the GOP! |
|
It's that they are hopelessly behind for next Tuesday and will likely lose both the House and the Senate. The coup de gras is Chimp's announcement today that **NOTHING WILL CHANGE** between now and his end of term. Rummy stays. Crashcart stays. So not only have the idiots painted themselves into the corner, they are *willingly* and knowingly staying in the corner.
The Democrats profit from all of this.
House: 35 seats, up to fifty or more Senate: 7-8 seats. Governor: Six assured, maybe more.
Dems lose *ZERO*.
