A nationally recognized voice specialist listened to the messages and said it was Haggard.

The results of a lie detector test wouldn't have made any difference.

7. He didn't fail the lie detector. Why are people pushing that here?

The lie detector operator (whomever he was) felt there were "deceptions". That does not mean you failed a test. IT was suggested that Jones come back next week when he's not sleep and food deprived, and perhaps calmer.

It has long been known that these machines are unreliable and easy to fool. But the US government insists on using them anyway.
