Why you ask?
Because the election is right around the corner, we are going to take the House, and the 'pugs are in a panic.
I wasn't happy like this in 2000 or 2004 because I could see the writing on the wall, things were too close to take for granted.
But this time, I've got no doubt, we've got it in the bag. I'm not saying "everybody stay home and relax" or anything like that. We've still got to GOTV, we've still got phone banks to man, we've still got ballots to cast. But this time next week we'll all be looking at a shift - the House back in Democratic control.
I don't predict we will win all the close races, in fact I'm pretty sure we won't. Some of us might have to swallow a bitter pill of seeing a much beloved candidate fail, or a much hated candidate win. That isn't the point though. The individual wins and losses will all add up to one important thing - Democrats controlling the agenda of the House.
The Senate would be nice, and it could happen, but it would just be the frosting on the cake. Well, I guess it would actually be more like a whole other cake, and two cakes are so much better than one, but that is beside the point unless you are Marie Antoinette.
My real point is that even if though we have the next two years to "grit our teeth" through, we are going to have a whole new weapon on our side, and next week will mark the beginning of a whole new string of frustrations for Bushco.

3. Sometimes I think a 50-50 split would be the best outcome in the Senate. |
|
Put Cheney's ass on the line every time there is a close vote. That would cut down on the bird hunting.

4. Have we forgotten about Supreme Court nominees? |

I think it's extremely important that Dems win the Senate.

5. true, but a 50-50 split would make it harder to get nominees out of |
|
committee if they were extremists and also it would make it more likely Dems could pull in some moderate pubs to block extremist judges. Obviously Dem control would be better. But if we can't get that, a 50-50 split sure would be fun.
