Diane Benson pulls closer in Alaska House race...
The latest poll out today has Don Young with 48% and Diane Benson with 41%, margin of error 5%, 6% undecided, 6% for "other."

Keep your fingers crossed for us, everybody. This is the candidate who was down by 30 points after the primary in August. We can kick this old 16-term corrupt bastard out with just a little luck.

Prayers or positive vibes for Alaska, PLEASE.

2. If she comes within 10 points on Tuesday...
...then she'll get a lot more help from grassroots Democrats and the DCCC in 2008.

4. Thanks, Eric...
I think she's going to come in at least that close. Something interesting in the poll results is that 13% of the Republicans said they were going to vote for Benson and 19% of the Democrats said they're going to vote for Young. Hopefully over the weekend the results of this poll will be published in the newspaper and the Young-leaning Democrats will change their minds. It's always been so hopeless here to run against Young that I think a lot of Dems may have Stockholm syndrome. I think with a little encouragement they might change their minds.

Sitting on pins and needles here. :)

3. This one is a sleeper
Young faced strong challengers in 1990 and 1992, this is the first strong one since then. This one is definitely a sleeper to be watched.
