Real Democracy continues to happen despite DC Establishment |

Dean volunteers in NC turned in over 11,000 signatures to the NC Board of Elections on Friday to put Dean on the primary ballot.
The only other candidate who has to do that is Kerry, and I don't think their efforts have begun. In fact, I'm not sure if there are enough Kerry supporters in NC to carry it out.
For this to be a 50 state primary for Kerry, he has to root for the republicans to continue their lawsuit in NC to redraw district lines. It won't be the first time he's sided with the right wing if he does.
11,000 signatures from registered Democrats. All collected by volunteers. Not one paid staffer.
NC knows what Dean's campaign is all about.

Are Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina "fake democracy?" I think perhaps we're confusing grassroots support with actual votes, and only the latter really matters in the long term. Yes, I said it, grassroots support doesn't matter in the long term because it is only a means to an end - getting votes!
