Is the GOP counting on Saddam's sentencing to give them a |
|
boost in Tuesday's elections? Apparently, his sentence will come down tomorrow?

1. They're probably still hoping for a miracle ... |

... they'd be better off posting in the Official Prayer Thread over in Freeperville.

that's why it was carefully orchestrated to have the verdict tomorrow. I think it's going to blow up in their faces though, just like everything else lately. Full blown civil war is what's expected now. Iraq, an already horrible and dangerous place, is going to become hell on earth in the next few days/weeks/months/years. We're going to lose American lives in record amounts and that's not good. Please, get our people out of Iraq. NOW!

3. Yeah, not to mention... |

it comes off as such a pathetic attempt for a November surprise that 98.5% of Americans that were planning on voting Dem or staying home will probably do just what they were planning to do.
Enough is enough. Capturing Saddam didn't stop the trend of a majority of Americans wanting out of Iraq. A verdict, though, many will be glad to see one, will certainly not change the overwhelming majority of American's voting patterns... if anything, people will conclude, "OK, he's tried, they found him guilty, now let's get the hell out of there and we know if it's up to Bush alone, we'll never leave!"

Odds are that Iraq goes Ape Shiite one way or another after the ruling ... Of course, to the freaks, that will be "bad news for the democrats, somehow" ...

6. Absolutely. Just like they've been counting on the low gas price fixing, too, |
|
to sway all the naive idiots out there into thinking things are peachy and life is good.

9. he won't hang tomorrow though |
|
and listen, who the hell expected him to walk anyway? As if making his death sentence official will affect anything. It'll just draw more attention to the iraq quagmire.

... verdict until after U.S. elections. Otherwise, half of Iraq and most of the Mideast is going to think that the verdict was timed to our election day. The verdict and the Iraqi government will be further delegitimized as U.S. machinations.
But I have no respect for this administration. They sunk lower than a snake's belly in gigging Kerry. If hearing that Saddam will hang can give Rove a 1% bump for GOP Congressional candidates, I think he could give a shit about the damage to Iraq and the U.S.
