Thousands Crowd Reid Park To See Bill Clinton
Nov 3, 2006 10:36 PM Thousands Crowd Reid Park To See Bill Clinton
(AP & KOLD) - Bill Clinton can still draw a crowd. The former president campaigned for Democrats in Tucson.
Some eight-thousand people gathered to hear him in Reid Park Thursday night.
The atmosphere was more rock concert than political show, with jabs aimed at the G-O-P, President Bush and the war in Iraq. Clinton and Senate candidate Jim Pederson were joined on stage by Representative Raul Grijalva, District 8 candidate Gabrielle Giffords and Governor Napolitano. ...

Bill Clinton rallies for Florida Democrats, 3 days from election November 04, 2006 20:27 EST
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Former President Bill Clinton is stumping for Democrats across South Florida today in the lead-up to Tuesday's general election. That's just as polls show tightening races for governor, the cabinet and Congress.
Clinton also attended a rally for state Senator Ron Klein who is challenging Republican U-S Representative Clay Shaw in the 22nd District.
Clinton later attended a Miami rally with Democratic gubernatorial nominee Jim Davis and other candidates. ...

Whoever runs in 2008, they need to ask President Clinton for his help.

4. He was here in NM a few nights ago |
|
and the rally was so large it filled an airplane hangar with some folks still outside.
Laura Blivet was here yesterday, no description of how many people got tickets (yes, they made sure only GOPs got in) but plenty of burbling about her clothing and her touching support of Heather Wilson (R-COW) with quotes from the dwindling number of local wingnuts.

6. Has anyone else noticed |
|
that the dem a-list people have a rally, lots of people. The rethugs have invitation only fund raisers. Small gatherings at airports and dinners. Bill and Al can draw big crowds wherever they go. Funny how good those eight years seem now.

12. Back in 2000 Clinton polled higher negatives than positives |
|
He motivated more Republicans to vote than Democrats.
When they ran those "If the 1992 election were held today, who would you vote for?" polls, Daddy Bush beat Bill Clinton by large margins. Remember that the 2000 election began one month after the impeachment attempt ended - - and after eight sold years of bogus Clinton scandals.
In 2004, Clinton's negatives were a little better, but he still polled higher negatives in swing states than positives. But Gore and Kerry both used Clinton in urban areas, especially to help get out the African-American vote.
If the usual cycle prevails, some day in the future, probably around 2014 or 2015, Smirk's poll numbers will go up, and his admin will be seen by many people to have had some redeeming qualities. Just like today, even Dems can be heard saying "Nixon wasn't as bad as Bush; at least Nixon did (insert positive accomplishment of the Nixon administration)".

10. He should have visited all 435 districts... |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-05-06 02:47 AM by Infinite Hope
in the country starting in May to raise money for them and then do all 50 Senate candidates. It could be done in those 5+ months. Even though many districts are safe, it'd give them money to send to more vulnerable candidates and spread around to local candidates in their district to take back the state legislatures and governorships.
That being said, he's still doing amazing work and I think this is partly about "See, American, I did a good job and now you wish you had those years back. So elect Democrats."
