What will Bush's response be after the elections?
Will he keep smearing the Democrats or will he shut up and pretend to do his job?

Actually, how could he function at all if he doesn't have the Congress's complicity?

It's going to be an interesting 2 years.

(I hope)

4. I am not a consitutional scholar, but I imagine Bush can still do a lot ...
damage. He will be upset and will take it out on the American people through legislation to gain as much power as he can. Money and power is what he is all about it.

The man is psychotic.

6. He can obstruct legislation by vetoing it
And maybe drag the process to a standstill. Not that anybody would notice much. I read the Rolling Stone article about this being the worst Congress ever, only meeting 96 days this year, compared to about 170 thirty years ago.

And he's still be in overall charge of the war. The Dems can keep him honest on the funding issues, though. Maybe stop supplying money to Blackwater mercenaries and instead give a pay raise to the troops. They can also step up funding for armored vehicles, and maybe expand the size of the Army.

He needs to be impeached if we want a management change in Iraq, because he for damn sure won't change anything of his own free will.

2. "I still have political capital..."
Even the congressional GOP may have lost theirs.

3. Hopefully, very extended vacations and the long descent
into irrelevance (at least until the War Crimes Trials).

5. the worst he can do is keep the war running
hopefully, a Democratic Congress will have the cajones to cut off funding for the war, ensuring it ends right quick.

7. "I got no intelligence."
Edited on Sun Nov-05-06 03:12 AM by Major Hogwash
"The Democrats saw the same intelligence I saw, and they got it wrong. We won. That's what all my redacted reports tell me. It's hard. It's hard work redacting all those reports. I wore out two black magic markers redacting reports last week."
Heh heh heh

"The fact is, the Democrats can't admit they won. They don't have the courage. They don't have what it takes to tell the American people the truth. They lack fortitude."
heh heh heh

"I am looking forward to working with the Democrats in Congress. I just got this new 5 gallon can of red ink to use with my hardly used "VETO" stamp. I've hardly used it. I'm looking forward to using it some more. I've got another 5 gallon can of red ink ordered just in case they try to pass some legislation or something."
heh heh heh

"I'm a uniter, not a divider, see? Democrats will try to divide, but I won't let them, I'll just continue to unite and 'stay the course'."
heh heh heh
