Barron's predicts GOP victory?
I just got up and was looking for coverage of the Saddam verdict, and was actually pleased that no one on TV was talking about it at a quarter 'til the hour, but at the top of the hour they did talk about it. Of course, I didn't check Fox but I'm sure they were talking about it all morning.

Anyway I get to MSNBC with Rita Cosby (boy, didn't that work out well - they're just giving her time slots with the help of a dartboard now) and I see some guy who didn't get named at the end, but he was from Barron's. He says the Repubs lose 2 Senate seats and have them holding the House by 1. WTF?

They expect us to trust them and the WSJ with investment information when they just pull numbers like this out of their asses?

3. I heard that too. If the GOP wins, I can only conclude election fraud.

4. If you factor in voter disenfranchisement from Voter ID laws,
statewide voter registration database systems that they've purged, and error-prone, hackable voting systems -- you get the GOP holding onto the House and Senate. The question: What are we going to do to try and stop them?

THE election will not be stolen. Why? There isn't ONE election -- elections are held at the county level and there are over 9,000 counties in the U.S. using different voting systems and different procedures and different teams to accomplish the work.

THERE WILL BE SOME ELECTIONS STOLEN.

How many? That depends on us.

What will you do to protect your local elections?

Spread the word about...

Election Protection Hotline
1-866-OUR-VOTE / 1-866-687-8683
1-(888) VeY-Vota / 1-(888) 839-8682 para la ayuda en español

Calls to 866-OUR-VOTE will be logged in the Election Incident Reporting System (EIRS). The EIRS is a project of the Verified Voting Foundation, in cooperation with other Election Protection Coalition member organizations, including the Lawyer's Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and People for the American Way Foundation. Trained volunteers will staff the Hotline providing immediate, state specific, assistance to callers. Call center operators will inform voters and solve problems on issues such as voter identification requirements, voting machine malfunctions, problems at the polling place, and voter intimidation. Following the 2004 election, the Election Protection Coalition released "Shattering the Myth: An Initial Snapshot of Voter. Disenfranchisement in the 2004 Elections."

Voter complaints from the 2004 and 2005 Elections appear now on the Election Incident Reporting System at http://voteprotect.org /

Two other voter hotlines: 1-866-MyVote1 and 1-888-DEM-VOTE are available and they will help voters, but they will not release information about the number and nature of the problems on the ground on election day to citizens & activists who want to muster a quick response. 1-866-MyVote1 is sponsored by non-partisan groups including Common Cause, and grad students at Johns Hopkins will be analyzing patterns of problems in the incoming calls, and MSNBC and Telemundo will be reporting them. 1-888-DEM-VOTE is obviously the Democratic Party system and reports from the toll free line will most likely be sent to teams on the ground across the U.S.

Voter Action E-Voting Hotline
1-888-SAV-VOTE
This hotline is set up to collect information about problems with e-voting or e-poll books - the information will be fed into a centralized database which will also incorporate listings from the EIRS, Verified Voting's Election Transparency Project and Video the Vote. Voter Action's Hotline is supporting Verified Voting's Election Transparency Project.

For citizens, pollworkers & activists:

Watch the Vote
http://www.watchthevote.org /
Watch the Vote is a national outreach campaign to encourage citizens to engage in the most important aspect of our democratic process - the right to vote and have that vote counted.

Pollworkers For Democracy
http://www.pollworkersfordemocracy.org /
Reports from pollworkers and pollwatchers will be entered into the Election Incident Reporting System database.

Video the Vote
http://www.videothevote.org /
Starting this election, citizen journalists—people like you and I—will document problems as they occur. We'll play them online, spread word through blogs and partner websites, doing our part to make sure the full story of our elections is told.

9. URGENT: How do I get this info to the Donnelly campaign???
I'm too new here to have figured out the tricks, and time is short. What do I do to email this info to the campaign I'm supporting in Northern Indiana? Please help me, and please be specific--I'm old and stupid. Plus I live 65 miles from the HQ, working mainly from Visclosky's office these days for Joe.

6. The guy from Barrons
is Jim McTague. I worked with him years ago at a NJ newspaper.
This story's been around about a week.

All I can say is I hope he's dead wrong.

7. Nice. They played it like a final prediction
Based on numbers from the end of the campaigns, not from a week ago.

8. They are desperate
They will spread all kinds of nonsense to claim they're ahead.
They are hoping that, by doing so, they will demoralize us into giving up.

Will we give up?

HELL NO!!!

10. If you build it they will come. Expect more predictions from connected
organizations and institutions. All the pollster say Bush is in trouble. And it is getting worse not better for the GOP over the last week.

12. Based on money
Barron's had an article a couple of weeks ago predicting the GOP would hold Congress based on campaign war chests. They even predicted Mark Kennedy would win in Minnesota.
