Nothing good can come from the execution of Saddam Hussein. |
|
That will exacerbate the already disastrous situation. No doubt, some Iraqis will rejoice at the news. However, at least he was their SOB - not a puppet of the USA.
Is it going to be a public execution? Or will they string him up somewhere behind the "green zone"? How do the Americans slip responsibility for the execution? The glee of George W Bush will be hard to conceal.

2. I disagree. It does good when tyrants are held to account. |
|
I want every dictator thinking that if they rule too cruelly, and then events go wrong, they might end on a gallows.

Why would anybody want him to become a martyr?
He will be, you know....even to the Shiite who live in Baghdad. Their life was easier, if not totally free.
He will be "enlarged in death" beyond anything he is in life....
Not smart
not by a long shot.

4. My first thought was, couldn't happen to a nicer guy... |
|
But the martyr thing makes sense. Why would they want that? I think I'd let the families of the people he slaughtered spend the afternoon with him.

5. the death penalty is barbaric -- in our country or theirs. |
|
i will get flamed but to me it's no more or less than state-sanctioned murder, which according to Bush we are ending in Iraq...right. still -- capital punishment is murder.
and in this case it is sure to ignite further bloodshed on the streets and increased -- if it were possible -- attacks on Americans.
flame away!!

6. Certainly not for him, anyway. |

If it's done in public, look for lots of violence.........or at least more than usual.

11. This would be a "revenge" killing, Bush's revenge for the lie that |
|
Saddam tried to kill Pappy. We should not stand for letting * get away with this - all based on lies.
