Connecting Some Dots
Years ago, reports started to surface about a gay prostitution ring being run out of Omaha, an organization that flew young boys (and a few girls) to Washington and other locations where politico's gathered, for the purpose of some pretty sick sexual gratification. I'll admit that when I first heard those stories, I was plenty skeptical. I still am. It all sounds like the utterly far-fetched plot to a really cheesy movie.

Not that there wasn't plenty of evidence for the Frankin Cover-Up, as it's been known. You can go to the website www.franklincase.org to learn more about it for yourself -- I personally can't and won't vouch for the veracity of anything on the site. As I said, you read it and decide for yourself how much is true.

But my point here is that with the outing of one Republian Congressman (any maybe more) and the stunning revelation about the President of the National Association of Evangelicals, one can't help but wonder if many of the seemingly-outlandish accusations with regard to the Franklin Case might not be true.

Ted Haggard and Mark Foley were prominent people, and certainly some of their most intimate friends (and I'm trying not to snicker as I use that phrase) knew of their double life. Now these people who knew, they kept their silence either because of an almost cult-like loyalty to their friends, or because they themselves were participats. If that's the case, there's no knowing what kind of perversions have been perpetrated by prominent Republicans.

We need a really good investigative reporter to connect the dots in the seamy underbelly of the Republican soul.

1. Closeted people make easy blackmail targets,
I sometimes wonder if part of the reason Republicans push to vilify gays is to keep their own members in the closet and more easily leveraged? Not just politicians, but media people, too.

That story in the Washington Times sure disappeared in a hurry. I wonder why.
