One thousand Kansans showed up in Topeka for a Nancy Boyda rally. :woohoo: Polls say that this race has gone from a Republican stronghold to a dead heat. Bush showed up to stump for Boyda's opponent, five-time GOP incumbent, Jim Ryun. Bush's visit was scheduled in the last few days and so Nancy decided to hold her own rally across town and several hours before Bush popped into town.
Way to go Kansas Dems! :kick:
The rally cry: "We've had enough." And with the election just a few days away, Boyda says she hopes voters hear her message loud and clear. "Nothing will change, until we change Congress!," shouted Boyda and her supporters Sunday, "on Tuesday, we are going to send a message to George Bush and to Jim Ryun and to Washington, a very strong message that we have had enough!" she said. It's become one of the tightest and most talked about races and Boyda says voters are ready for change in Washington.
"Together, we really can get our voice back in Congress, but it's going to take everybody," Boyda says. Fellow politicians, including democrat Senator Anthony Hensley of Topeka rallied the troops in the opposing party. "It's time for the good people of the Second District to take back control of our government," Hensley says, "it's time for us to be represented by someone who will fight for the middle class, working families!" Veterans, union workers, teachers and other community members joined Boyda and her promise of big changes. "I really don't think Congress has been looking out for the majority of people," says Boyda supporter, Pam Mullins.
"People really believe in what she's doing, her message she's sending out and Jim Ryun really hasn't been doing a very good job," says Andrew Fields, another Boyda supporter. "I stand behind this candidate," Boyda says, "it's time for change, enough is enough."
