1. Michael Steele's campaign is distributing signs which say...
..."Steele Democrat" to trick people into thinking he's a Democrat when he's a Republican.

2. I think you're a litle premature in declaring Maryland red.
Why did you choose this avenue? Just curious.

3. Cause Steele is a black Republican
Maybe that's why he's doing good, african-american within baltimore city might show solidarity by voting for him over Cardin.

7. nope they won't, they're too smart and saavy for that ....
they consistently voted for Martin O'Malley over other Black candidates. Most will vote for the man who best represents them: Cardin.

9. I hope you're right
The fact that some black dem leaders are supporting him and that Mifume's son held a rally with him yesterday, is a bit worrisome.

11. Oh, please
Black people are not cluelessly following him because he's Black. He's doing well in the polls because he's run a very effective campaign.

13. If they are voting for him after being aware of his policy positions then they are clueless.
Is an effective campaign one that hides the fact that he a is neo-con who will not help working class Marylanders the way Ben Cardin has and will continue to do. Steele Democrat is one dumb ass Democrat regardless of race.

14. They may be clueless, but no more clueless than all the white folks voting for him
So why differentiate by saying that Steele's doing well because Blacks are supporting him because he's Black. He's doing well because a whole heap of people - mostly White - want to vote for him.

18. I didn't differentiate, you did, I only pointed out the fact that people who support him were dumb
asses unless they support him on his conservative agenda. The basic fact is that he does not represent the concerns and interests of the working class. I wonder what your point is in coming on this forum to defend anyone supporting a re-puke candidate the day before an election. The incontrovertible truth is that the re-pukes have welcomed racists and exploited racism, in winning elections no matter what the color, and are doing this in Maryland, in this election by playing the race card. You want to pretend that there are not a significant number of Black Democrats who would normally vote their interests in supporting the Democratic Mr. Cardin, but are voting for Steele simply because of his race, that is your right to be delusional. This defection in voting patterns may cost the Democratic Party control of the U.S. Senate and add another conservative sycophant to supporting Bush in destroying the future of the working class, if that is in the interest of a Steele Democrat, I guess they will be a satisfied dumb ass.

4. Ya don't get much bluer than MD... Steele loses by 6-8%
He's run a strong campaign and will take a larger share than usual of the sizable African-American vote but it's all uphill in such an anti-GOP election mood.

10. Steele has run a much better campaign than Cardin has
I still think that Cardin's going to win, but Steele has done a very good job.

12. You also have to realize that a lot of political appointees live in Maryland
Also, Sarbanes is stepping down. So it is an open seat, there is no incumbent senator.

15. And George Bush won New Jersey in 2000 and 2004
Oh wait. That's right. He didn't. He got drubbed in NJ twice. It was just Rove and his flunkies in the media declaring that it would be close in NJ. And let's not forget Rove's ridiculous claim that Dubya would win California on the eve of election 2000. That fucker didn't even win Florida.

17. How is the black vote holding out?
It needs to stay in favor of Cardin and I think the black vote is pivotal for who will win.

One poll has Cardin up by 3%.
