How will the weather effect turnout on Tuesday?
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 01:22 AM by davepc

a little? not at all?

Might be wet in Tennessee and Virgina. Rain on and off in New Jersey.

Hopefully on the fence Republicans will be more tempted to stay home.

1. It doesn't matter in the state of Washington the rain doesn't
stop anyone from doing anything here....we just get used to it...plus in my county it's all mail ballots....

2. Oregon is pretty much finished voting...it's all mail in ballots
A sizable group of procrastinators will drop them off tomorrow or Tuesday (until 8:00) but I'm guess most of the races have been decided by now and the vtes just need to be counted.

I'll go right after we lay my father to rest on Tuesday.

4. I am surprised that there is not a floating date for national elections,
such as the first blizzard or major snow storm of the year. The first Tuesday of November is such an idiotic date for weather and other reasons. But, then again, weather is always a handy excuse for the nearly half of people who cannot be bothered to vote.

5. IMO Unless the weather is really bad, weather has little affect.
Long lines, lack of transportation, and voter confusion have more of an impact than weather. Weather may affect a very small # of uncommited voters, in that case, will be good news for Dem.

6. Personally I think being a Tuesday has more effect
We are just about the only industrialized country left that insists on voting on a weekday, forcing people to squeeze voting in among other concerns. And if there are delays, (and there are because our poll workers are often elderly and slow), they cannot stay in line-but must go home and go to bed. Friday/Saturday voting would at least allow people to stay in line and stay up. And it would make it easier for commuters.

7. Election day should be a Federal Holiday
When I wasn't self employed I always took it as a personal day.
