4. Casey has been polling ahead by 10 to 13 points lately.
The RNC is no longer giving Santorum money to run ads in PA.

16. Does it help one's candidacy to be a racist in VA?
That's the only explanation I can come up with.

13. Allen's plastering the Richmond with yard signs
Allen's running more ads than Webb, possibly due to money issues or maybe Webb is spending his cash in Northern VA and Tidewater where the electorate isn't as addicted to Kool Aid.

A Richmond Times Dispatch Poll released over the weekend had Webb up by less than a point.

18. could be simply measurement error--probably within MOE
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 11:28 AM by spooky3
All of the recent polls have shown one candidate or the other with a very small margin.

on edit--yes, the 3% is within the 4% MOE:

"Results are based on telephone interviews with 916 Registered voters in Virginia, aged 18+, conducted November 1-3, 2006. For results based on this sample, one can say with 95% confidence that the maximum margin of sampling error is ±4 percentage points."

Also, I think some of the other polls have sampled "likely voters" and that Webb has done a tiny bit better with LVs.

20. Webb/Allen are tied in Gallup's latest likely voter pool: 42-42
Still comes down to the GOTV ground game...

25. Two Other Threads Just Screamed That Webb Is Up By 8!!!
I suppose we will be on a roller coaster ride for days to come! I would LOVE to see outright wins and that will only happen if any given candidate polls higher than 2% of the other.

Less than that, I presume the LAWYERS, especially on the Repuke side will be SALIVATING!!!

5. It's not enough
to take back the Senate. Either Webb or Ford has to win and Webb has the better chance.

17. Kean would need pictures
of Menendez directly accepting bribes or sacrificing small animals to have any sort of chance. I think the "closeness" of the NJ Senate race has been artificially created and there's no way that New Jerseyans (among whom I count myself) are going to hand this seat to a Repub to ensure that we go down as being the state that kept the Senate Republican.

12. Good numbers
But the November surprise is going to be the total destruction of the republican party after the results come in. I predict we will take the house in the region of 240 seats & in the Senate we will pick up VA, MT, TN & MO along with all the other close races. The angry people always turn out in bigger numbers to vote. This happened a few years ago in the UK when the people we so angry with the Conservative party that the results blew all predictions out the water.

24. Don't Want To "Go Negative" Because It Could Be A "Positive"
but there are a LOT of undecideds in the races. I myself don't understand why, but then again perhaps Independents don't really belong to anyone!

Polls are all over the place depending on which ones you look at!
