Republicans "content to lose" the election
Why else would they continue to do stupid shit that makes them look like the hypocritical, homophobic, hateful, evil party of false profits that they are?

That "content to lose" catchphrase is on my last nerve this morning.

1. Their arrogance deceives them to think they can't lose
It is like Cheney saying he will not appear before congress if subpoenaed and the refusal to fire Rummsfeld.

2. That's who they are, they can't change their stripes
and they are all being revealed. I'm sure they'll be disappointed to lose all the $ from their personal lobbyists though.

3. Of course they are ... they never clean up their messes ...
Look at the godawful situation they'd be throwing the newcomers into ... fixing any of the GOP mess is going to be harder than what Clinton/Gore found in 92. And the media and WH and GOP naysayers are going to be salivating at the chance to demonize any and every idea the Dems put forth to fix any of it.

I sure as hell wouldn't want to be taking office this cycle.

6. I'm sure some of them truly are.
Think about it: some strategic reactionaries who aren't so blinded by their own propaganda know that some serious shit's coming straight at our faces shortly. Iraq is going to get MUCH worse. The housing bubble is over and the economy will sputter or worse. Gas prices are going to go back up and achieve new heights fairly soon, continuing on from there.

They know they've made a mess of things, and even though the compliant media and some deft manipulating can keep a lid on it, bad things are a'comin'. To some, it would look better if this happens when the Dems are in power so it can all be blamed on them.

7. "Content to lose" now, are they?
Let's see, Denial, check.

Anger, oh yeah.

Bargaining. Like a used car salesman.

Depression -- well, they're depressing me. Does that count?

Acceptance, at last.

8. In other words, they're beginning to understand they have no business
running our country.
