I Had To Turn My Phone Off - so many Republican calls yesterday
They are really hitting in Kansas City.

I got one from Kit Bond, two from Newt Gingrich, one from Tom Ridge, one from that guy whose son died in the plane crash on 9/11, and just some other general kind of calls.

I just had to turn the phone off

8. I would imagine they are all computer generated.
I just let them go into my voice mail until I get sick of hearing the phone ring. Then I unplug the phone.

So far none on my cell phone.

2. They must think you're a Republican. They wouldn't make GOTV
calls to someone they thought was a Democrat (or even an Independent).

They want known supporters to Get Out To Vote.

5. I'm afraid they are counting up
how many votes they need to "update" with "patches" tomorrow.

for damaging someone's eardrum. :)

But if it's a pre-recorded message then redirect all incoming calls to your local police dept. and let them piss them off instead.

6. I hate to hurt anyone
even if they are pestering me over the phone.

Around our place we tell 'em to hang on a sec' and put the phone down - on speaker - in whatever room we're in.
Let them hear the TV or the cooking or whatever until they give upo.

Sometimes you get to hear 'em going, 'Hello? Hello?"

4. Caller ID is your friend
If you don't recognize the number, or if the call comes in as unrecognized or blocked, just don't answer. There is a setting that lets you automatically refuse callers who have blocked their identification; instead of a connection, those people get instructions on how to temporarily unblock their identification so the call can go through.

I love it, especially this time of year. :hi:

10. They used a guy whose son died on 9/11? But having Michael J. Fox tape
a commercial for you is somehow off limits?

11. Oh yea. Haven't you seen that ad in your area.
This man's son was on the plane that went down in the field. He is asking people to not give up the war on terror. It is one of their more powerful ads.

12. I've only had a couple robocon calls
But all of them were extremely poor audio quality. They were barely audible.

14. In North KC here,
and I've only gotten two, both from fine Union robots. Guess it pays to have an unlisted number sometimes (even though it costs over $2/month)!
Here's hoping for the best!
