The "polls " are manipulative...
If you lose, it doesn't matter if you lose by one vote or one-hundred thousand votes. You still lose. That's why it doesn't matter if the polls say you are 15% behind or 3% behind, as in the case of Harold Ford, Jr. He still loses if he doesn't get the votes.

However, the numerous polls manipulate people's emotions. The question is: Do they have an impact on turnout? If your candidate is 15% behind, are you more or less likely to vote for him tomorrow? If your Party is 10% behind, are you more likely to vote for your Party, because they are going to lose anyway? There are many ways that polls can manipulate. In my opinion, it is best to simply ignore them.

1. Very well put!
It is fun to look ar all the different polling numbers, but as you so aptly state, a win is a win. So just go out and vote for the candidates of your choice and don't worry so much about the damn polls. Things will shake out in the end. And if there are problems, the Dems have attornies ready to go at a moments notice. So go vote tomorrow!

2. Well, you're right of course.
However, for me polls are like that sore tooth you just can't avoid probing at with your tongue.

3. If a poll doesn't tell me what I want to hear...
I assume that it's being manipulated to try to influence the voters. I didn't really want to sound like a wise ass here, but we see this a decent bit here on DU. For some, when the polls confirm something we already believe, they're "proof" that we're right. When they show something that we don't want to believe, they've been rigged to manipulate someone. I 100% agree with you that the best plan is to ignore them. My vote is my vote, and I cast it based on what I know about the issues, and what I believe. If 75% of the people disagree with me, then they're free to vote differently.
