forget candidates & issues--big picture, what are you voting for? |
|
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 04:28 PM by greeneyedboy
BIG picture, what principles are you voting and campaigning for?
what intentions are guiding your vote?
are you voting on behalf of any other individuals & groups who can't? this election is a turning point toward... what?
this election is one step in the bigger movement toward... what?
which ancestors, allies, and descendants are you standing up for when you cast your ballot?

2. my answers: sustainable democracy, survival of the planet, nonviolent conflict resolution... |

voting on behalf of - the next seven+ generations (of all species) who will live on this planet - all those interned without trial - every girl or woman endangered by an unwanted pregnancy - every person working in a sweatshop doing outsourced labor - every person in this country working more than 40 hours/week to make ends meet - every species under threat from global warming, pollution, overfishing, factory-farm monoculture - every person without health insurance - every person who died an unnecessary, premature death because of government policies - my nieces and nephews who are too young to vote, and their grandkids, and their grandkids - everyone who likes to breathe clean air and drink clean water and eat uncontaminated food
my intentions: - to use the Democratic Party as a vehicle for positive change throughout the U.S. and the world - to keep demanding representation from officeholders, even when election season ends - to support democracy and the rule of law and full enfranchisement of all citizens (even the ones i disagree with)

Regardless of which party is guilty, fraudulent acts like the actions now going on in VA and so many other states should amount to treason and should be punishable with as much as 20 years in prison.

13. Fiscal responsibility, the poor and the middle class, the disenfranchised, anti-fascism |
|
liberty and freedom from government/corporate intrusions, a much improved energy policy, a fair drug policy, U.S. wealth creation (as opposed to U.S. wealth redistribution), a responsible and phased redployment from Iraq, government and corporate accountability/responsibility, revenge for the past 8 years of Republican bullshit, and just to poke a finger in the eye of the entrenched big money special interests that will, hopefully, not corrupt our party the way they corrupted the Republicons.

16. #1 - Reinstatement of the Constitution. |
|
#2 - Recognition that people are more important than corporations and that many of us are suffering as a result of the Bush regime. There are many, many subcategories here: the "for profit" war, health care, education, the environment. You all know. It has to change TODAY!!!
