the six kids that are friends of my son's who are in Iraq. The kids we took fishing, boating, slept over at our house, ate our food, whose sporting achievements we cheered, whose prom pictures we took....yeah, the war is personal, very personal.

These kids were like our own for years, crawling all over our house, eating everything in sight, swimming in the pool....

I know war. I know about war. No matter what, they will never be the same. I know that some of my feelings are just the rising odds of something happening to one or more of them, but I just feel so bad for them. All of them between the ages of 18-22.
