you are? Be just as radical as you wanna be.

Here's mine. I predict Davis narrowly beats Crist in the Florida governor's race.

There was only one poll done here and that had Laesch only 10 points behind in mid-October. It could happen here - folks are very angry at Denny!

If it does happen, many of us will dancing in the street. Come join us!

5. My Predictions:
Crist beats Davis - the Crist TV ads were just too much (I've been seeing them for months!)
Senate: We take Virginia, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Ohio...and we barely squeak by in Montana...
Unfortunately, Lieberman wins CT, Coker wins TN, and I **think** Chaffee might make it in RI...Kyl takes AZ...
Republicans keep control:(

Congress: 25 seat pickup for us = Speaker Pelosi:)
And, I sure hope that includes a Congressman Kleeb - my latest swoonworthy political crush!!

10. I'm calling Melançon vs. Hall in TX-04...
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 02:02 AM by progdonkey
Hall is a truly reprehensible little fuck. He was a Dem from 1981-2004, when he changed to Republican, so right there we should want him gone. He's extremely corrupt--one of the big Abramoff guys; he even insulted a child sex worker in the Marianas, recorded in the Congressional Record, by saying she "wanted to do nude dancing."

In 2004, he beat his challenger by over 30 points. Now, his Dem challenger is a history professor (he teaches at some college just across the border in OK, but lives in Sherman, TX) and a poll a few weeks ago had him only 7 points behind.

Imagine if Melançon actually beat Hall: a Zell Miller who won by a 30-point margin lost to an under-funded Dem, even if by an incredibly slim margin.

Here's a link to a post on TPM Election Central about it: http://electioncentral.tpmcafe.com/blog/electioncentral/2006/oct/24/tx_04_new_dem_poll_suggests_goper_hall_not_completely_safe

(Even though I'm in VA, I also am very personally interested in this election since I lived in Sherman for three months earlier this year, and my best friend--who's a born and raised Sherman girl--is very Republican. Even though I love her to death, I would still love to gloat that she has a Dem congressman. O8) Though, her Marine Lt. older brother is a Dem, so maybe he'll convince her to vote Dem this time, which would ruin my gloating, but make me very proud of her. :patriot: )

23. There really is a huge difference between Dem-->Rep and vice versa...
and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Dem. Since the "Center" has been moving steadily right, to the point that Rockefeller Republicans are practically socialists now, when someone switches from Rep to Dem or Ind (as Jeffords did, though he's perhaps a de facto Dem nevertheless) it's much more reasonable when the person says, "I didn't change, the Party changed."

When someone goes from Dem to Rep, however, they're basically playing political catch-up: oh, it's more politically expedient for me to be a Rep, since the center is moving rightward, and I want to stay in power; if I stay a Dem, I might be labeled a liberal and I'll have a harder time staying in office.

Of course, if the center (hopefully) starts moving back leftward, the opposite dynamic will happen, conservative Dems will become Reps and some opportunistic Reps will become Dems. To be perfectly honest, though, I'll be happy to see the conservative Dems go to the other party then: not because I want to be rid of them (well, not necessarily ;-) ), but because it'll be a sign that the center really is moving leftward. Also, I'll be just as dismissive and spiteful towards the Reps who want to be Dems as I am to the current Reps who were formerly Dems. It's the difference between changing parties out of principal or out of political ambition.

11. KS-2: Nancy Boyda upsets Jim Ryun
Kathleen Sebelius is doing a wonderful job as governor and will sweep back into office with a Lieutenant Governor who is a former Kansas Republican chair running as a Democrat. There are also eight other former Republicans runing as Democrats for state offices. All nine of them have left their party because it's become so damned crazy--full of lunatic rapture rightist theocrats. They are sick and tire of the bullshit and there's a *huge* rift in the Republican party in Kansas.

Democrat Nancy Boyda is running in a mixed district, ideology-wize, but includes Topeka, Manhattan, and the Kansas K.C. suburbs, including Leavenworth. It is sufficiently strong in the Democrat column to turn the tide this time, with some help from moderates.

There's going to be fireworks tomorrow. Nancy Boyda is going to set some of her own tomorrow night.

17. I live in the district
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 02:12 AM by AntiWarPoster
I've seen a lot of Davis ads, but a lot of Reynolds ads as well.

Davis has pledged to not accept his Congressional salary or benefits and said that he will work for only 1 dollar per year. He is a multi-millionaire so he can afford to do this.

Reynolds has been linked to the Foley scandal because he knew about it and did nothing but tell Hastert. Then Hastert did nothing

Polls have varied widely and this one should come down to the wire. The district is very Republican(went for Bush by ~15 points twice) so it's all about Foley.

NY-25 is a possibility as well. I also think we will unseat wife-beater Tom Sweeney in NY-20. The district you are talking about is the one to replace Boehlert I believe. I live around all of these Republican incumbent districts and they are all up for grabs.

either the Wyoming seat or the Idaho-1st district seat going Dem as a nice possible upset I'd like to predict. I think the Idaho one is more likely, and will actually predict that we will pick up that seat. (But maybe I've just been reading "DailyKos" too much...)

I'd be happy to say there will be an upset in the TX Gov's race and the Kinky and Strayhorn supporters will decide getting Perry out should be the top priority and push Bell over the top... but I don't really think that one will happen.

74. Move to Alaska, sweetie
No hurricanes up here, and earthquakes only happen once in a long while. :)

65. NM-02 going to Kissling would kick ass.
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 02:04 PM by dethl
I hate Pearce with a passion. He's a bonafide * ass kisser.

Then again, seeing Heather Wilson (NM-01) gone (a done deal basically) will be just as pleasant of a sight.

70. PA-04 Jason Altmire (Democrat) beats bushbot incumbent Melissa Hart
If Rendell and Casey have long coat-tails and PA wants to cleanse itself of the theo-neo-con Repugs, Hart should lose.

79. I PREDICTED THIS "UPSET" in PA-04: Jason Altmire defeats Hart
I got my trifecta: Rendell wins easily, Casey hands Santorum his a** and my bushbot congresswoman, Melissa Hart gets defeated by newcomer Jason Altmire.

:woohoo::bounce::toast:

77. IL-10
Dan Seals over Mark Kirk. It's one of those old Rockefeller Republican districts, but it voted for Gore and Kerry.

78. Mark Taylor, Governor of GA
Ok. Not gonna happen, but just thought I'd say it anyway!

(Maybe a run-off? Thanks to the libertarian candidate)
